Manufacturing issue with ALL of these buckets
First of all, I am probably going to spend the time to correct this issue myself. However, the manufacturers of ALL of these gamma buckets need to add an extra step after they come out of the mold. The buckets all have a seam(s) and/or excess plastic in the groove where the rubber seal is supposed to seat. This renders the bucket neither air nor water tight. A simple added step of milling the groove to ensure a nice tight fit would solve the issue. And it is a big enough issue to add this step to the manufacturing process.I decided not to buy any further Gamma-type bucket lids until this issue is resolved. Now, related to this 2 gallon bucket specifically. It is noteworthy that a 2 gallon bucket will not receive a standard bundle of spaghetti as the spaghetti is longer than the bucket is tall. Now some of you may be saying to yourself, why not just break the noodles? I'd rather have the extra protection of leaving them in their original packaging and just placing them into the bucket. Finally, for bulk dry goods storage, this is a really good size as they can be lifted overhead easily. Also, when using, smaller amounts of food supply is opened up to the elements at a time.Cheers!

Ok so it’s not so easy to get the lids on. I’m a 71 yo Gramma and I did it!
Ok so it’s not so easy to get the lids on but once done these smallish storage buckets are fantastic.Initially I stood on the lid the first time I tried to attach lid to bucket but unfortunately I also snapped the threads of the easy lid screw top down. It took a large screwdriver and a good deal of stubborn persistence to free it. So, that didn’t work,The way that works is this: separate the two lid parts, press the ring to the rim on the bucket on one side lean hard until it seats ( you’ll be able to tell) work your way around the circle seating the lid as you go. With four inches to go, you’ll think the lids don’t fit the buckets. It takes some force but you then push the bucket rim inward while leaning on the top of the ring with the heels of your hand. It will snap into place. Then you spin in the center threaded disc of the lid. Fill and label.I think separating the two parts of the lid makes the ring part more flexible. I love the screw top lids, it’s going to make regular access to my pantry items so much easier.

great customer service
Gamma seal lids are notoriously hard to install, but these are exceptionally difficult. The black gasket falls out of the lid rim while you're pounding on the top. Turning it upside down to pound on the bottom to try to keep the gasket from falling out and you damage the bucket. The only way I found to reliably close these is to take out the white gasket, install the twist lid loosely into the rim, set the twist lid/rim on the counter, set the bucket on top upside down, flip carefully to keep the black gasket in place, stand on the lid, and stamp on it, reopen it and reinstall the white gasket. Having the twist lid/rim pressed down all around because I was standing on it kept the black gasket in place. OTOH, the company has great customer service. When I complained, they sent me a whole new order even though I told them it wasn't necessary. This is why I like dealing with small companies.

Great Buckets, labels can be difficult to remove
Only down side to these buckets are that the inside lid is covered by a large label. Removing the lid can be difficult without tearing it and leaving behind glue. I have found heating the label with a hair dryer first makes that label come off easily

Lid/Ring Installation Instructions
Another reviewer commented that he broke a bucket while pounding on the lid with a mallet. I used a rubber mallet to install 3 lid/ring assemblies with no problems. Then I used a rubber mallet to attempt to install the ring only (with no lid in place), and promptly broke the ring apart. So the trick is to snug up a lid inside a ring, then use a rubber mallet to pound the lid/ring assembly onto the bucket. I deduct 1 star because the seller should include proper instructions on how to do this, not let customers find out the hard way how not to do it. An apparently good product in every other respect.

Great for Pantry Storage
These were just what I needed to store bulk beans, rice and other food products in the pantry. Lids screw on very securely. Expect that these will last a lifetime for what I am using them for which is home storage. These likely would not survive use on a battlefield or on an overland expedition, but will sit on a pantry shelf for a long, long time.

Nice size for various needs
I bought these for storage of dry foods like rice, flour, beans etc. to be used with oxygen absorbers. I like that they are 2 gallon, as I can break bulk purchases down into smaller quantities and not have to open a huge container every time, exposing the contents to the air over and over. I also like that there aren't any labels or stickers on them. One comes already "set up" but you will have to install the ring on the rest with a rubber mallet.
