So completely reviewed from that perspective although once my nephews get a bit older I will be purchasing copies for them.Highly recommend this one, I recently read Julia and The Shark which tackles the same theme (a child whose parent is experiencing a mh crisis), whilst I really enjoyed my time with that book and the formatting was beautiful, personally this was even better.I have my own mental health complexities and I also grew up in a household with a parent that had their own, which I think is a lot more common than we like to think about or acknowledge. In the way that he processed those feelings and felt that sense of responsibility for his mums feelings, I really identified with (despite being 30).Overall beautifully told and a wonderful story about plastic/waste pollution, human destruction, having him also find his own identity that he hasn't been able to explore before was so incredible. I really could have gained a lot from this if I had this as a child.Honestly I cannot rave about this enough. I also adored The Last Bear and the illustrations are just as beautiful in this, whilst both are 5 stars I think this is my favourite.

Year again Hannah Gold takes us on an emotional rollercoaster journey .The characters are delightful, so well written you miss them when you finish the book.You worry about them, share their joys and triumphs.You learn about Grey Whales and feel compelled to do more to protect our oceans.Thanks for another great story

I purchased this book and I devoured it in a day. Every word, every page, every chapter was written with poor thought and beauty. The illustrations along the way were absolutely stunning. A book of hope, peace and true friendship.

I love this story so much as an adult reader, who will be sharing it with my nephew. I can't wait for the movie. I said too Hannah

My daughter enjoyed the Last Bear very much so was keen to read the next story by this author. So far it hasn't disappointed!
