Does this reel work for saltwater?

I’ve used my 3000 for saltwater ONLY while fishing in the Chesapeake Bay by boat and Inshore at Ocean City going on 3 yrs now, caught everything from stripers to bluefish, with ZERO problems. Firstly, if dunk a non rated saltwater reel in saltwater, you deserve to have it locked up on you. Common sense goes a long way, tho obviously rare these days. I’ve used plenty of freshwater gear for saltwater with zero issues. I don’t dunk them. I do rinse off with freshwater, and periodically (4xs a year) take apart and oil my reels. As with anything, take care of it and it’ll take care of you!!

I got the 3000. Would that be allright for my 7 ft med action rod?

The 3000, size wise is on par with most 2500 series reels(Shimano)! A 6ft to 7ft Rod would not be an issue for this reel. Just consider what rod would fit your fishing requirements.

Does this bring an extra spool

This reel does not include and extra spool.
