We are using this for goats. It is stainless steel with copper fittings and a hard plastic float. I expect it to last for several years, if not longer! The braided steel cover protects the hose from my nibbling, curious goats 🐐 and I no longer have to fill buckets 2x a day and scrub them out once a week.This won't work in the hard freeze of winter, but for the other 8 months a year, it should be awesome. It says for cows, but goats, sheep and even chickens can use it, if they can reach.Would definitely buy again.

My dogs like it and it's mostly great, but the connections leak no matter how much you do to prevent it. We will have to make adoptions to it this year so that it doesn't leak. Last year we had to turn t on and off, or live with soaked washed out ground....kind of defeated the purpose for us. But the concept is great and my 5 doggies have water.

The other waterers have plastic connections, which are weak, the threads get stripped and the plastic outside in the sun wears them down quick. This has all metal connectors, its tough, the mechanism works just like it should and its easy to install, no leaks! dont waste money with waterers that have cheap plastic threads.

Still trying to get it to stop leaking in stall. Haven’t been able to use it.

The brass float is very hard to set and filled very slow ,I am much happier with the plastic floats,I took the brass float out and installed a plastic one,and will now purchase only plastic floats ,the bowls work great and are tough,even the big beef is able to drink out of it.

It is well made. Solid and sturdy. However, like a previous poster added in their review, the adapter that they give you for the stainless steel hose that it comes with is incompatible with a regular hose bib connection. An additional piece is needed. I went to Ace Hardware and picked up a hose adapter 3/4 female hose thread to 3/4 male pipe thread (part #71935). It was about $10. Hope this helps someone.

My son installed it for me and he was not happy. My puppies broke the plastic one I had and he ended up taking the "guts" from the plastic one to make the new one work. I would not buy one again.
