Q: The description and pics aren't clear. Is this also a wall charger, or only a car charged adaptor?

It is a dual charger. It can use 110 ac or a usb connection. It is not a car charger unless you have a 12 volt dc adapter with a usb plug in or you can charge it through your usb connection in your computer.

Q: My original battery says 6.8v. this one reports 7.2v. are they still interchangeable?

My original battery is 7.2 volts so this replacement works fine. My camera is a Sony HDR-CX380. Do you have a different model that would account for the difference in voltage? To the comments that the battery is difficult to put into this charger; The charger comes apart into two pieces. I have found that if I separate these pieces, it is easier to slide the battery in. I have had no problems with the charger or the two batteries that I received with it.

I believe it works only with 110v. It is one piece with a fold-down plug.

yes same battery as my old sony 290 i got for it 3yr ago now i has new hdr-cx455b this well worth $$ since oem size 50 battery not good in cold weather so this 2 battery was a higher cap then oem 7.2v 500ma/h these has 1200ma/h these still 7.2 volt battery last 1+ hr more in 0 deg winter days best part using this kit does not take vary long get these at full charge so far 3yr going vary strong i use them 6 day a week hunt fish camp walks so i hope u gets same service these great kit i keep in that carry bag came w/ clean kit cool 6'' desk tri-pod w/ mini sd 64gb with the camera i order on amazon got kit hdrcx-455 4 them road trips use this charger 12v in truck or 110v in the motel room hope this helps gives u idea it will last hold up everyday use not junk well worth $
