Ease of use.
Has a learning curve to use properly. Sliding tray can hurt your hand with extensive use. Still i love this machine!

Cuts
Certain vegetables and fruits are so fragile that the machine smashes it, no matter how thick it is, for example, oranges and lemons the pieces do not come out perfectly cut

Satisfaccion

THIS IS REALLY A **** FIVE STAR PRODUCT!
***** THIS IS A FIVE STAR PRODUCT! I always check the one-star reviews first, so am leaving this review for others who are like me. I see other one-star reviews in reference to the powered unit, which I cannot comment on because I purchased the manual unit. I purchased this slicer to make a Christmas family recipe that is generations old. The recipe calls for evenly sliced tomatoes, peppers, onions, and eggs (we use an egg slicer for the eggs, not this slicer). This slicer is AWESOME and saved us ALOT of time cutting PERFECTLY even slices of onions (1/16", but can be sliced paper thin!), tomatoes (3/8" thick), and green peppers (1/4" thick). The fact that the depth locks in position once it is set is key (I have yet to find a mandolin that keeps its depth which is VERY frustrating)! Before purchasing this slicer, I was using a very expensive professional tomato slicer for the tomatoes, a handheld guide tool for manually slicing the peppers, and a mandolin to slice the onions. NONE of them worked well. The professional tomato slicer cut uneven slices that were 3/8" at one end and a 1/2" at the other (the blades flexed while cutting). The handheld tool for manually cutting peppers was a joke and the mandolin only made a mess of the onions (the thickness constantly changed and there was no way to catch the onions). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE MANUAL CUTTING VERSION OF THIS PRODUCT. There are down sides, but none that outweigh the usefulness of this product. The downsides include: 1) it is large (needs storage space) 2) because it is riveted together there is an inner space that cannot be cleaned directly (requires lots of suds and rinsing to clean as best as possible) 3) the blades are super sharp so be careful when cleaning 4) the suction cups work really well, so it takes patience to release them from a surface and 5) the product is sturdy enough but is made with thin sheet metal which can be sharp if not handled with care. Note that the blades are removable for sharpening, and it comes with an extra set!SLICING TIPS:1. When slicing onions, cut one end to make a flat surface to place against the cutting plate and to ensure the rings are centered.2. Always rotate the blade backward (counterclockwise) until the vegetable is flat against the cutting plate, then begin slicing clockwise)3. Keep constant slight pressure on the feeding mechanism while slicing (even though it is spring loaded). Obviously, keep your fingers clear of the blade!4. When slicing super thin onions, cut 3/4 of the way through then use one hand to catch the onion when finishing the cut to keep the full onion slice intact. Again, keep fingers clear of the blades!

Life saver
We own a food truck and do catering. I had to slice 200 lbs of tomatoes and 200 lbs of onions. Had them all done with this in less than 45 minutes.

Good ideea; project mst be finished.
I liked the ideea as engineering. In working, silces are spreading in all directions (even upwards!), so they are very difficult to collect. A sort of a funnel is to be added. Piston of the charging uit should travel on some rails. But, at the end, ideea is unique; I hardly found a divice all over the internet. And we are happy to have it!!
