Overall, this floor lamp gets 5 stars because it does exactly what I wanted and expected it to do.Here's a brief explanation: I bought this for my office at work. My office has too many glaring overhead florescent lights. They cause glare, eyestrain, and by the middle of the afternoon - headaches. But, I have a wall of windows. So, I started working with the office lights off - using only the light from the windows. That works pretty well. But, a bit of extra light from the inside of the room was needed to reduce shadows and balance the light in the room. This floor lamp does the trick. It provides the light-balancing I needed/wanted and adds a warm, soothing glow. As an extra bonus, the lamp has the 'wood' feel that matches my desk, etc., so it doesn't seem out of place. Also, it has a couple of shelves to house a family photo and a couple of other small things that make my office feel a bit more personal and relaxing. The only reason for 3 stars re: 1). assembly, 2). brightness, and 3). sturdiness are because:1) it does require a lot of assembly due to the efforts of the manufacturer to ship it in as small of a box that they can accomplish [not a criticism, merely an observation - it's packaged amazing well and everything arrived unharmed];2) it isn't a bright light that will illuminate an entire room; and3) it isn't a high-end piece of sturdy furniture construction [nor, does it claim to be]. It's top heavy due to the lighting fixture at the top. So, it works best if placed in an area where it won't be disturbed.- - However; none of those things were a requirement for me. I just wanted a bit of extra light that wasn't overbearingly bright. I wanted something that looked nice, provided a bit of extra light to my office and didn't seem industrial. I also wanted something that felt warm and comfortable, and also would fit in to the traditional wood/oak appearance of the office furniture that I have. In other words, I was looking for something to fit in. - This lamp does all of that. It's perfect for what I wanted. I couldn't be happier. I'm thinking about getting a couple more - another for my office, and one for home. Here's the bottom line: IF you're looking for an inexpensive lamp that looks nice and also feels warm / comfortable - you may like this. But, IF you're looking for a high-end sturdy piece of shelving and/or a room light - this may not be what you're looking for.For me, it works. I'm happy and considering buying a couple more.

Love this lamp. We tossed the other recent purchase for unsteadiness and replaced it with the Brightech Maxwell - Modern LED Shelf Floor Lamp. The difference is night and day, this lamp is sturdy and looks great. We kept the 60w equivalent bulb that it came with, if you need more light you could go to a 100w equivalent for more brightness if you need more light (still only a 14w bulb). Lamp looks great, easy to assemble with good instructions. The instructions cover two 8 inch by 11 inch pages with blow up details that are visible to over 40 eyes, as opposed to some instructions that come on a 3x5 card these days. Brightech really put forth a determined effort to create a great lamp and product experience.Really a great add for our living room to give soft light when we want the overhead can lights off.Full disclosure - toddlers might be able to pull this lamp down, if you tilt it a few inches, it will re-balance, but it is not heavy enough to actually handle a determined attack.

The assembly was soooo easy. Everything fit together perfectly to my surprise. Quality is very good, but I think the price point is a little high. That being said, I will buy another one to have a matching pair in the LR. The LED that comes with it puts out good light but I would like it a little brighter so I'll replace the bulb with a higher wattage one at some point. Overall I am pleased with the purchase, assembly was a piece of cake and the lamp looks very good!*Update*In my original review I mentioned that the price point was a little high for the quality. I paid $56.99 for mine in the middle of June 2018 and I really like the lamp, so much so that I clicked my past orders to buy again. When I did, I nearly fell over when I saw the lamp's price had not dropped but WENT UP to $74.99!!! OMG how is that possible in 3 months? At $56 I can do 5 stars, which is pushing it, but at $75, no, dropped to 2 stars until the price returns to reality.UPDATE: Back to 5 stars, price is now less than what I paid originally. Had these lamps since 2019 and they are still great and very glad we purchased them!!!
