Q: how much weight can it hold?

I'm not sure how much weight, but it came with 6 hooks, and I bought 2 more, so I usually have a total of 8 pans hanging on it with no issue. That includes 2 large, sturdy aluminum skillets, heavy duty pots of various sizes, and a small fry pan. Plus the rack itself is very lightweight compared to some of the other more ornate ones I was considering. For many years I wanted a pot rack and was worried about the weight, but I figured I'd give this one a try, and I love it, it is exactly what I was looking for.

Q: One comment said instructions state hanging from joists is strongly recommended. This won't work for us. Can it be anchored to the ceiling drywall?

My ceilings are plaster, very old house, and there's nothing to anchor to. Go to hardware store and purchase the 2 part compound mix for cement. Drill your holes, push as much of the compound into the hole, then put your hooks in. Let set 24 hours before you finish hanging. I've had mine up several months, using this method, and have 7 pots & pans hanging. It worked for me, hopefully it will help you.

Yes. The hooks also matched my old one so I have 10-12 things hanging on it and I think you could order extra
