Best sub ever!!!
I use this for a 2.1 desktop system, paired with Emotiva Airmotiv B1 speakers which are powered by an Emotiva A-100 amp (I initially had the Elac debut 2.0 b6.2 but was not satisfied so I returned them and got the Airmotiv B1 and it was one of the best decisions ever.. the B1 are in a different league than Elac). This sub is absolutely amazing!! It has extension into the high 20Hz region which is pretty crazy for a sub in this price range and of this size. Across the entire frequency range, it's powerful, clean, crisp, punchy, just perfect, never boomy or muddy at all. I also have the S10 for home theatre system and it's great too, but the 8" is really all you need for a 2.1 system, and it fits better under my desk. It blends seemlessly with the speakers since it has adjustable crossover and phase control. It's also plenty loud, I have it turned only up to 1/3 volume and it's enough to feel in my chair and floor, and if I didn't have neighbors I'd keep it at 1/2 to 2/3 and at that volume it can be felt in the chest too.Update: at high volume levels and low frequencies, the port makes a noise that sounds like a weird squeaking and it's very distracting. As another reviewer suggested, you can plug the port with low density foam and it fixes it completely. Seems like low end extension and punch are still about as strong as before, but now I can turn it up as far as I want and it handles perfectly. They should really sell this sub with a port plug.. and the plugs are apparently super hard to find so that's annoying. I happened to have one because they came with the KEF Q100.

Great Sub, Malfunction Was My Fault
Love this woofer. Ran great for a year. Then one day the auto on function ceased working. I thought it was an issue with the woofer. Turned out house cleaner had plugged the input cord into the red "out" jack instead of the white "input" jack. No more problems. Perfect woofer for an apartment. And I love the price for this kind of performance and down firing design.

Unit failed to work out of the box
Product failed to work when it was opened and connected. Unit would power up then go into standby mode and never do anything else. Checked power cords, cables, etc. nothing would make it function. Unit showed no outward signs of damage so suspect it just wasn't that well made to begin with.

Amazon Warehouse Deals needs to do a better job at packaging
The sub itself is great. Punches hard. Perhaps a bit too much, and I'm talking about the 8" stationed in an open concept living room. I used to have Dayton Sub-800 prior to this one and Emotive sub punches lower and deeper. You can feel it in your chest. Now to Amazon Warehouse Deals (from whom I bough the sub). They packaged the 20lb sub in a box that's about 40% larger then the sub itself with no inner product box. As you can imagine, the sub bounced around and upon arrival it looked like it came from a war zone. The front of the sub sustained significant damage, and there was tape added to some areas of the cabinet (who added it?). The box is in such bad shape I can't event ship it back in the box it came in.

Quality sub at an economical price!
Keep in mind this is first impression...as I use this subwoofer, I expect the driver to break in and sound improve. I picked this up at the post office today as USPS for some reason would not deliver it to my house. I'm coming from a Paradigm PDR-10 that I have used faithfully for 18 years...and isn't dead (after a recent re-foam), but just not loud enough for the space in the new house. The PDR-10 is up at max level and anywhere from a +2 to +5 adjustment on the AVR to have decent volume. I demo-ed an SVS SB2000, a ML Dynamo 700, and a DT Supercube 2000, at Magnolia, and coming home to a larger space with this BasX sub out of the box, it hits harder, seems to go lower, and I believe is cleaner than any of those others, and much friendlier price point. I understand that sound is subjective, but before I dropped $$$ for any of those other 3 subwoofers, I'd buy one of these again and save a couple hundred dollars, buy a pair of the BasX-s10's for the same amount of money, or scrape together a little more cash and buy two of the s12's.FYI - the sub level on my BasX is set at half...the others were up at approx 2/3 to 3/4 level. Also, my AVR sub level is back to 0. It is big, and I love the look...am thoroughly impressed. My space is an open floor plan, with a 5x5 entry opening into a 19x17 vaulted ceiling living room, transitioning into another 19x15 eat in kitchen. One is enough for me...but a second one, especially for the price would I'm sure be incredible.

Love this little Subwoofer
Love this little Subwoofer! Coming from a Polk Audio Psw10, just about anything is an upgrade but the BasX s8 exceeded my expectations. I couldn't believe the output from such small driver but what blew me away was the tightness and clarity of the bass. I've been slowly upgrading my mancave system over the last year. So far I've got Polk's TL3 sats for my fronts, the TL3 center, and jamo s25 sats for my heights and surrounds in a 13 x 15 feet room. The fronts and LFE are set to 120hz crossover with the center, surrounds and heights set at 150hz. All the sats and the center play great highs and above average mids so I needed something to go fairly low to tie everything together but was looking for something with tight base. This thing was perfect for my setup. Like another reviewer pointed out, there was a lot of chuffing when I initially set it up. I think the reason for that was because the back port was too close to the front wall(about 8 inches). But then I turned the Subwoofer so the port was facing to the right which allowed 16 inches from my side wall. Chuffing was mitigated and clarity was unreal. I highly recommend the basx 8 for a small to mid size room.

Sounds great with varied music
Sounds great with varied music. Bass is actually quite strong considering it is a small 8" subwoofer. I knocked one star due to port noise when watching TV or movies. Loud scenes with explosions, etc., cause the subwoofer port to fart.Anyways, I'm not concerned about this issue because I have a dedicated Dolby Atmos theater room with two 12" subwoofers and 11 in-wall Polk Speakers.
