Organic Whole Bean Coffee Medium Roast (16oz) - Decaffeinated

I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor when I first opened the bag, not a lot of aroma and the quality of the beans were lacking. The taste makes up for that....good, full bodied decaf coffee that doesn't have that loss of taste that most decafs have. It's a good afternoon cup of Joe, I'll order again!

This decaf has a quite good flavor for decaf. It tastes just like caffeinated coffee. It’s a smooth, balanced medium roast and it’s not too bitter. The aroma and freshness are solid. I grind it for espresso and it grinds nicely. I like that it’s organic and uses the Mountain Water Process with 100% Arabica beans. On the downside, the flavor can be too mild if you prefer a very bold, dark roast, like my husband. The price is higher than supermarket decaf, maybe because it’s organic. This is a great choice if you like a smooth, flavorful decaf like me.

I am enough of a coffee hound that a late night cup next to some cake and ice cream is a thing I enjoy. So I am always on the look out for a robust and flavorful decaf coffee. I found a winner for sure! The smell and taste of this coffee is deep and nuanced. Whether with cream and sugar or just black, this is a strong flavor with a appropriate acidity for drinking anytime... even late at night. The amount in the bag and the size and quality of the beans makes me feel like I got a good bang for my buck. I have been brewing a cup at least 2 to 3 times a week and I am only down to half a bag. So I feel like I hot a great deal. The only other thing worth saying is that normally I get pretty bad heart burn if I eat greasy food or drink high acid food in the evening. So far... I have not noticed any stomach discomfort. So for me, the acidity isn't causing any problems.

When I first opened this bag, I was like, oh no -- it smelled like a much darker roast than it actually turned out to be, looked darker than I expected for a medium roast, and honestly had kind of a flat and almost smoky smell. I am glad however, that I did not stop there, read on! When I brewed a cup, I was kind of expecting thin and too-dark of a flavor, based on what I saw and smelled. Nope, it turned out very good, rich but not overpowering, and definitely a full flavor medium roast. It was smooth, no harsh bitter factor, which completely surprised me after the initial smell of it. This coffee is kind of spendy, but if you are looking for a solid decaf, it may well be worth it to you. I usually do half-caf coffee, and when I mix this with my normal medium roast caf, the cup comes out very good. It's always kind of hard to find a decaf that has decent flavor, and flavor beyond just one or two notes. This decaf does it, it's got layers of smooth flavor, and mixed into a half-caf, it comes out more full bodied that my usual go-to mix. From purely a flavor standpoint, it's 100% win. From a cost standpoint, that's up to you ;) I also tried this brand's banana foster coffee, which was a surprise hit. I pretty much despise flavored coffees, but that one was superb, smooth, and very non-artificial tasting. Just mentioning it here because I have never heard of this brand before, and for the two that I have tried, they've both been winners.

This Coffea Flavor decaf whole bean coffee brews a pleasant cup of decaffeinated coffee. It has a smooth medium roast flavor that's comfortably between acidic and bitter and has a roasted, slight chocolate/cocoa taste to it. I appreciate that it's organic and single origin, making it easier to trace, and that it's whole beans for better freshness/flavor. I did not notice any extra energy/alertness while drinking it in the evening, so it does also appear to be appropriately decaffeinated. My only gripe is that nearly $26.49 (at the time of this review) for a pound is very expensive, even above small-scale local coffee roasters. If you're looking for a good high-quality cup of decaf coffee regardless of price, this is a good choice.
