Looks Like Painted Ceramic
I wanted a fountain pen as a gift for my girlfriend. While I have been a FP collector for a while, she isn't. I needed a pen that was classy but feminine This pen, with the the pink wintersweets on the barrel, looked perfect.Once received, pen is about average size compared to my other pens. I specifically mention this because it *looks* like a smaller petite pen, but it's actually a normal size pen In the picture I have a Wing Sung 3008 (this Jin Hao is *exactly* the same size), a Hongdian Black Forest, and a Sharpie Ultra Fine Point color marker for reference. It looks smaller because the white part of the pen body is less than half the total pen length when capped.I cleaned the pen under warm running water, including flushing out the ink converter and feed of the pen. For those new to FPs, search youtube for "clean fountain pen." Its become a habit for me to clean newly purchased FPs prior to putting ink in them--I've had a pen arrive with a clear grease-like substance on the nib which adversely affected writing quality. The ink I use is Pelikan 4001 black which is "cheap paper friendly." Pen came with an ink converter, so I loaded that up with the black ink. The writing sample was done on a cheap A5 spiral dotted notebook that costs about $5. The first and last line are done with this pen's fine nib, the second and third line are done with a Wing Sung extra fine nib so you can see the difference between fine and extra fine. The last picture is a close up of the grid drawing -- there's no bleeding so the difference you see in the line width is from the nib size.Writing with the pen is smooth and the nib glides across the paper with very little pressure. If you can use a ball point, you can use this pen. There is no "scratchiness" or "feedback" from the nib so there is no learning curve; you used to have to learn to rotate the barrel to avoid feedback. Now technology has gotten rid of nib feedback so there's no learning curve. This will make a great first fountain pen for my girlfriend. It writes smooth so she can use it right away as a replacement for her rollerball. The pen looks like a woman's pen without looking childish ( Hello Kitty) or gaudy (jewel encrusted). It *looks* expensive, but its cheap enough that if it gets lost no one is gonna cry over it (maybe for a day or two until the replacement arrives).Tips:If using cheap paper, use cheap paper friendly inks. It makes a *big* difference.Finer nibs put down less ink; use a finer nib if you want to write on cheaper paper.Use the least amount of pressure to get ink on the page.Google and YouTube has lots of info on FPs. Browse them, do your homework.

Great pen!!
This is a GORGEOUS pen!! I'm in love!!! This pen writes great and the converter holds a decent amount of ink. The nib has a tiny bit of feedback but I kind of like it. :) It's a very heavy pen to hold. The cap does post and makes it a little back heavy so I prefer to not post it.This is a great pen for the price and so so pretty to look at! Hope my review helps!!

Great Pen Overall, slightly heavy
This pen is so cute and writes well. It does have a feedback but I kinda like it. It’s a bit heavy for me already so I don’t post it but if you do post it, it doesn’t post well. Ink Flow is good.I’m using a thin paper and it still does well. I’m using Diamine Flamingo Pink ink in it and I love it.Comparison photo to my Lamy Safari Vista Extra Fine nib with Hongdian Ink in Teal also attached for reference.

Do not hesitate to buy this pen!!!
Beautiful pen and it writes just as well. I am writing on reinforced loose-leaf paper purchased from Walmart. Let the photos speak for themselves. :) Very good pen for the money. I also purchased the (birds/wintersweet) pen and it is just as good. I am very happy with both. And, yes, both pens came with pre-installed converters.

Writes very smooth
Is nice and writes smoothly, it says that it is a fine nib but it feels more like a medium

Nice Looking Pen
Jinhao makes pretty good fountain pens. They are also economically priced - and I appreciate that. This pen looks well made. There are metal inserts on either end of the wood barrel. The wood portion is smooth and nicely finished. It comes with a cartridge converter and a #5 fine nib. It's a good deal.

Excellent classic
I used to have one but lost it. Served me well for 9 years. Usually gets noticed when I pull it out to sign suff.
