The ABC & XYZ of Bee Culture: An Encyclopedia Pertaining to the Scientific and Practical Culture of Honey Bees Hardcover – May 1, 2007

This book is a classic reference on beekeeping and the earlier editions have been used as references for many years. There is very little that is of interest to an amateur or professional beekeeper that you will not find in this book. The main disadvantage that I find though is that the content is scattered and not well organized. It seems as if every edition just adds more words and what it really needs is a complete re-write of the entire book and for the topics to be laid out logically. Otherwise it is a very good reference on beekeeping, but not a good "how to" book for new beekeepers.

This is our second bee book and it is extremely detailed. My husband loves this book more than his other one and barely puts it down. We plan to start a hive once the winter passes. Through our own mistake, we didn't pay attention to the dimensions and assumed it was a big (length and width) sized book, so we were surprised that it was a little smaller, which doesn't matter other than when it is stacked up in our library shelf of taller books. The book is extremely thick though and has tons of fact filled pages with fascinating detail. We are extremely pleased with the book and have learned so much more from it than we did random bee websites and videos. Very good buy!

I am an apprenticing beekeeper, and while it's essential to get hands on experience, it's equally if not more important to have a compendium of experience, which is what one gets with this amazing book. Simply put it is the Beekeepers Bible! All told it contains centuries upon centuries of acquired apiary and labratory wisdom as well as a history of beekeeping. The book is filled with beautiful photographs and also contains some of the best illustrations of bee anatomy and morphology. My "little honeys" are sure to benefit from a careful persual of this most comprehensive encyclopedic book!

I received this book a few weeks ago. True to form,order was correct,packaged securely,and delivered earlier than I anticipated. Thanks again Amazon! This book is so interesting! From the basics to any possible problem or situation you may encounter as a beekeeper is in there. The anatomy and physiology is so interesting! No stone is left unturned! I've bought and/or read several bee books and this one by far surpasses all the others. Amazon had the best price too..go ahead and get it..you won't be disappointed.

If you're looking for this title, be aware that if it does not have this cover it may not have any quality to print and pictures. I have bought and returned two before this one arrived. This book is perfect, quality in both font and photos top notch. No memo-graph copy from this press, and its less expensive then the ones I returned.

Most accurate title for a published work I've seen since Mariam Webster and Oxford came out with their dictionaries. This work truly is an actual encyclopedia covering everything from A-Z related to beekeeping, a damn good beeping reference.
