Amazing Story And Can't Wait For Wildfire
Yep, so good I needed a cigarette when I was done :)I am not going to try to tell you about the story in this book since everything you need to know without a spoiler is in the synopsis, I am here to tell you to get this book and the one before and after it as soon as you can lay your grubby little hands on them.It was an amazing story, it never did what you were sure the next step was going to be, there was a wee bit more graphic sex than in any other Ilona Andrews book I can remember reading (and I think I have read them all) and at the end (and I hated that this book even HAD an ending, I wanted it to go on forever) you just kind of sit back and wonder what in the world you can read now because almost anything else will seem amateurish in comparison to this amazing story. It will take a few days to wear off LOLBottom Line: 5 Stars, I could hardly sit the book down, it kept going off in a direction I could not guess. It might be advantageous to wait until 25 Jul 2017 so you can read all 3 of them in a row, trust me, you won't be bored but you might forget to eat.

White Hot
Two months ago Nevada Baylor helped stop rampaging Prime mage Adam Pierce from burning down Houston, but apparently that was just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a conspiracy going on within the Houses, and no one knows the endgame quite yet. When bereaved husband Cornelius Harrison comes to Nevada to have her investigate the death of his wife, Nevada finds herself completely embroiled within the conspiracy. Plus, it brings her face-to-face again with Mad Rogan.Mad Rogan propositioned Nevada two months ago, and walked away when she turned him down. She’s heard nothing from him since, but she’ll need his help in order to solve this mystery that entangles them both, and risks exposing Nevada’s well-kept secrets about her powers.I feel like White Hot really needs no introduction. The Ilona Andrews team consistently deliver quality writing / stories and White Hot is no different. Even having to wait an extended amount of time to be published, the book does not disappoint, on all counts. So, you’re probably wondering about things between Rogan and Nevada? I know that was the main draw for me as I find Rogan to be an excellent alpha hero, and I always love a good romance plot. I was happy it didn’t take them long to cross paths again, and honestly it’s in a most show-stopping sort of way that puts them right back on track with the sexual tension and funny bickering. I like that their feelings for each other are pretty much acknowledged without doubt. There are no games played, it’s just being able to decide if you can actually be with someone. If their circumstances and your circumstances can cohabitate. The give and the take. Nevada’s family adds in some hilarity as they try to make sure these two get their happily-ever-after.One thing that comes up as a possible obstacle are Nevada’s powers. She’s a Truthseeker. On the surface she can tell if someone is lying, but we really learn that she wields so much more than that, and sometime soon she’ll have some decisions to make. In fact, we learn a lot more about the Baylor family and things they’ve chosen to keep secret. I really liked the expanded magic universe we get here. There are a myriad of powers that we learn about and it only serves to enrich the world-building.I thought the intrigue involving the Houses was well-played. It seemed natural that there was more behind events in the first book than meets the eye, and it kind of grows out of the murder investigation Nevada is initially hired to solve. Quite the tangled web that is definitely something continuing into the third (and final?) book. It’s because of this that you can feel White Hot being kind of a “bridge book”. But don’t let this moniker fool you, White Hot is everything you were hoping it would be. Trust me. As a bonus, Wildfire only releases in a couple of short months!

I adore this series, it may have just edged out Kate Daniels in my affections.
This blog post has been sitting in my drafts since December 2015, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to get an ARC of this book from the Publisher, via Edelweiss, through Tasty Book Tours (this does not affect my opinion of this book or the content of my review and the usual disclaimer when it comes to Andrews applies…I bought it anyway).Oh Nevada and Mad Rogan, how do I adore thee? I’ll admit Burn for Me was a little rough at first when it came to my preferences. It isn’t so much paranormal romance (abysmal covers notwithstanding) as it is urban fantasy that you can tell will eventually have a stronger romantic component. And the hero was fairly anti at the time. But sometimes an epilogue just smacks you upside the head and shakes up all your preconceived notions about a character. So I knew I’d have to read the next one. Of course with the long wait time, I found myself going back to the first book. And much like the first Kate Daniels book, this is one that seriously improves with re-reading. It went from a 3.5 basically saved by the epilogue that bumped it to 4.5, to one of my all time favorite books.I never dreamed it would be so long until the next one came out though (heck the links and everything were still attached to my old Blogspot). But it’s probably for the best as I said, plenty of time for me to grow my love of these characters. Plus, new covers AND books 2&3 coming out so close together? It’s like a beautiful dream, except for that wait…and except for the covers not really changing. But hell, as I have said before, the cover curse is probably part of the fun now, and I guess it is nice that some things never change 🙂We got a glimpses of the secrets hidden in Nevada Baylor in the first book, but this one blows those secrets wide open, and I LOVED it. It wasn’t like she was hiding it from herself, so much as that in the struggle for the day-to-day you don’t always have the chance to utilize your best self, if you see what I mean. But then BAM! you get that incident where you have to reach down and pull your best self out, that is where the magic happens and it was GLORIOUS! Nevada as a heroine rocks. But as much as I adored Nevada, honestly (excepting her taste in men…initially) I adored her in the first book too. This second book really shone the light on Rogan, and it took facts we already knew about him, and then reframed them in a light that let us know, or maybe understand, Rogan better. Absolutely heartbreaking and heart wrenching, things that were pointed out gave me a filter to kind of take objectionable characteristics he exhibited, and overlay them with the understanding I have developed for the people I have in my life who have gone through similar situations. PTSD is a hell of a thing. That is Ilona Andrews gift, giving us the humanity in these powerful…sometimes kind of insane alpha-hole characters. And the relationship that built between these two strong people was fantastic, and funny, and a little sad all at the same time. Instead of a one note, one hit kind of resolution, it was messy just like life. And thankfully, we had enough will they/won’t they in the last book, so all that simmering heat just burst right onto the pages in this book. Very hot. And putting it all together created a very credible relationship that left me feeling warm…like super warm. But I definitely enjoyed the ride. The story itself was action packed, and aggressive, and twisty-turny enough to keep me engaged through out. Wheels within wheels conspiracies are slowly being brought to the forefront and I have a bamboozled on that one. Plus there was a ton of zany, crazy sauce Baylor family drama, which was a definite plus to me because the family dynamics were and continue to be a major selling point for this series. And man do family dynamics (not just Nevada’s) play an important role in this series-the good and the bad. Few things irk me so much as a romantic couple that seems to live in a vacuum, bereft of other family, friends, and human contact. But this book is cause for rejoicing on that front. The secondary characters in this story are fleshed out and appealing and there are a host of them I’d be thrilled to see get their own stories. Do I want Bug, Cornelius, Leon, and Bernard to get their own features? Yes, yes I most certainly do!The story arc for this book had a highly satisfying resolution (for a blood thirsty and vengeful girl like me you really can’t get much better than the ending this book’s big bad got at the hands of the person most wronged), and the overall series arc progressed enough that I am champing at the bit for the next book…but not so much that I feel I have any true inkling of how the final show down will go. And the teaser for the next one gave me all the angsty, excited shivers. So I am giving this book all my squee points, and thus far it has been my reading highlight for the year. Now I am off to reread these compulsively until I get my sweaty hands on the next one.

I Love This Series!
I really enjoyed book 1 of this series, but this book takes it up to the next level. Once the characters and world were established in book 1 meant that this book could be filled with plot.Nevada and Mad haven’t spoken in 2 months. Nevada has been spending time learning about her magic. The book starts with Nevada taking a step along a path, she’s not quite seeing clearly enough. She decides that a child’s life hangs in the balance so she has to act, even if it exposes her abilities to the world. She also takes on another case, which causes her to run into Mad again. Once again they end up working together. The case is complex and tied into the conspiracy that they exposed in book 1.Once again the plot had me turning page after page, even when I should have been turning the light out to go to sleep. I was lost in their world and didn’t want to escape. We learn much more about the way the magical world works in this book and it’s fascinating. The world building and plot alone would make this a 4 star book, but it’s the characters that lift it into the 5 star category. They seem so real that they almost step off the page. I became so invested in the Baylor family and their happiness that I almost forgot they weren’t real.I really do love Nevada. She’s a fascinating person. She’s principled, strong and determined. She is loyal to a fault and can be ruthless to protect those she cares about. She can be calculating at the same time as genuinely wanting to do the right thing. She has so many layers to her personality, and that is what makes her feel real. This is a great book, and I highly recommend it.

Love this series!
"He smiled at me. It was the kind of smile that blazed a trail from your heart to your mind and popped into your head the next time you wondered why you put up with a man who made you want to punch things."The second book in the outstanding Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews, White Hot, brings UF Fans another perfectly paced plot, and an even sweeter dollop of romance!I'm so glad I decided to jump on this series. The first book, Burn for Me, had been on my TBR for a while simply because Ilona Andrews is an autobuy author for me, but it wasn't until recently when I kept seeing the books around everywhere that it moved its way up to the top of my list. The series has been relaunched by the publishers with the final* two books - White Hot and Wildfire - being released very close together in June/July 2017.And oh my gosh, what a book! White Hot is an apt title! I thought the storyline in the first book was pretty perfect, but I somehow managed to enjoy this one even more (and that had absolutely nothing to do with Connor Rogan. Nope, nothing at all). What I especially loved was finding out more about everybody. I suppose the authors were busy setting up the world building and the two main characters in book one, and now that that's out there, in White Hot we got to explore other areas such as Nevada's fabulously wacky family. We also got insight into Rogan's time in the military, which helped counteract the slightly bad first impression he made to both Nevada and us readers in book one. And there are also a few new characters that pop up in this one that I feel will be sticking round. The story, while new, is also a continuation of events from Burn for Me. I'm in spiky territory even trying to find something to tell you about it without spoilers, so I won't bother. The other part to these books which is just as important is the romance, which sees some interesting developments in White Hot. I think it's safe to say if your liked book one, you'll love book two.Overall, I don't think I could have enjoyed this more. I look forward to re-reading it again someday.* I believe this to be a trilogy, but would be very happy to be wrong about that!

Worth the Wait
Worth the very long wait. This is the second of a trilogy and it is very much part of a bigger story, I am not sure that it would work as a stand alone, it references the first book quite a lot and it leaves a fair amount of threads hanging for the book. Due to publishing priorities we had to wait three years for this second book. Luckily the third instalment will be published in 2 months. So why is this book worth 5 stars. It has humour, excitement and the usual excellent world building that is a key part of the authors work. I like the characters, even the secondary ones. The dialogue is sharp and it has one of the best heist scenes ever! The one thing that surprised me a little was that there was a quite explicit sex scene included, more explicit than I am used to from these authors. I can only assume that this is because this is written for a different publisher who perceives the market for these books as different from the Kate Daniels series. That must also be the explanation for the awful cover art. I buy these on Kindle as I am not sure I could face being seen with the paperback in my hand! None of this detracts from the excellent qualities of this story line.If you haven't read Burn for Me then go find it and buy it, you won't regret starting this series.

Loved it
This world full of magic and conspiracy is fast paced, action packed, humorous and romantic.Rogan and Nevada are still dancing around each other, but unable to suppress their feelings. Nevada's new investigation reveals a conspiracy where mystery and danger abide. Despite their differences, Rogan is always there to watch her back. They find themselves in some sticky situations and the fights that follow are vividly described. When Nevada's family are threatened, all bets are off. Who are the masterminds behind those threats and dangerous attacks?Reading the interactions between Nevada and Rogan is fun and mesmerising. The new developments in other members of the family are gobsmacking. Leon brings that special something with his mysterious and fun contribution to the big battle. The whole story is captivating. As soon as one threat is eliminated, another one surfaces.I look forward to reading the next installment to see the progress of Nevada's new discoveries and the effects they have on Nevada's and Rogan's relationship.I love this world of magic where you can immerse yourself and enjoy the ride.

An addictive continuation in a fun paranormal-romance series.
White Hot is the second book in the Hidden Legacy series, from husband and wife co-author team, Ilona Andrews. After reading the first book, Burn for Me I was so glad that I already had the sequel ready to read, and as with the first one, I could barely put this down. At the risk of sounding too dramatic, I think I might have a new author to add to my list of favourites. You should bear in mind that if you don't enjoy the romance from the first book then you're not going to like this series. However, this romance is one of my favourites and what makes this series so addictive in my eyes. I like my romances to be super angsty and while the angst took a back seat I found myself rooting for them even more which is something which never happens. Though I finished reading this last night and have read some other stuff this morning I cannot stop thinking about it and about what's going to happen next.

Awesome Ilona Andrews urban fantasy novel
Totally awesome. Knocked it out of the park. Loved it.Nevada Baylor is a small-time PI, she supports her injured ex-military mother, her two teenage sisters, her twin teenage cousins and grandmother (who modifies armoured vehicles). She is also a truthseeker Mage, she can tell if people are lying, and recently discovered that the active part of her gift allows her to force people to tell the truth. After the shocking events of the last book things are back to normal when Nevada is asked to assist Cornelius Harrison whose wife was murdered whilst on a business trip, but whose employer is denying involvement/ liability. Although Nevada is dubious about Cornelius' intentions towards his wife's murderer and what will happen when she starts poking into what looks like a war between magical Houses, she can't bear his sadness or the idea that his daughter Matilda won't know the truth. The investigation brings Nevada back into contact with Connor 'Mad' Rogan, the Scourge of Mexico, the Butcher of Merida and all round super hottie. This is fast paced, action packed, Ilona Andrews at their finest. Every character is so well drawn, so nuanced, so real you walk away wanting a novel for every one of them. I can't wait for the third book and if the teaser at the end of this book is any indication, it's gonna be amazing.

A very complex hero and heroine
This is book two of a proposed trilogy, I hope the authors change their minds and make this a series. The world these characters inhabit is extraordinary, it seems similar to ours (although historical facts are not the same) but is vastly different. This world exists on two levels, the ordinary people and the magical families, they each co-exist but do not intermingle. There are rules which govern each society and each group has its own laws and law enforcement. The magic users are a dangerous group their skills are frightening and only an individual's own morality (or that of his house/family) prevents anarchy. Such magic skills include such abilities as being able to destroy entire cities with magic, murdering people with elements, such as water or fire, controlling animals, telekenisis, telepathy and empathy to name just a few. In this world the strongest individual is Connor Rogan also known as Mad Rogan, in book one he comes across a female P I called Nevada Baylor who is trying to find a member of Rogans extended family and thus begins a thrilling tale of conspiracy and murder where it's impossible to know who is friend and who is enemy.

Excellent
I generally dislike steamy romantic urban fantasy although I have no problem with violent urban fantasy. That probably says more about me than I would like it to. The husband and wife team that is Ilona Andrews have been on my must read now list for several years. Whilst they often promote themselves as 'romance' authors I would argue they write great action and mystery. They also create wonderful characters and build amazing worlds. They know how to make me invest in characters. They know how to make action exciting and how to weave a compelling story that often has me finish reading the book in the same sitting that I started. This series is no different. In White Hot, the second book of the Hidden Legacy trilogy, characters grow, world building continues and action ensues. This series has more of a romantic feel than the Kate Daniels and the Edge series'. There are enough character thoughts of a steamy or romantic nature that this does feels more romance based. However even for a reader like myself that has little interest in the romance genre there is enough here to really enjoy.Overall, an excellent read. Not sure about that cover though.

I'll never get bored of these two authors!
I love all their series, Kate and Curran are my faves but these two are great two,Long awaited sequel! I missed the lightness of rhe first one 'squirrels'! But understand that this was a middle book, and as that we got lots more of who everyone is and what they can do, but it ended way before I was ready! So glad we only have to wait a few more months for the next and last one although j feel this could have gone in for quite a few books.I'm intrigued by the twins and am dying to know more a boutique their powers, I hope they'll do lots of offshoot story's.Anyway if you like the first one I'm sure you'll love this too, rill on September!Loved the Peid Piper thing!

Read it
Expertly plotted and deftly written this book is well worth the excruciating wait. This story is full of intrigue, humour and sass and a sizzling hot romance to boot. If you were in any doubt about purchasing this book, I would urge you not to hesitate. The Hidden Legacy Novels are both in my favourite to 're-read' category which is not a long list. They also improve on the second read as the attention to detail and the odd quip might have been missed in the first place. Ilona Andrews team are on top form with this offering. This is one book you do not want to judge by it's cover.

Mad Rogan and Nevada are worth the wait
Fun, tense, sizzling, funny, action-packed - this book has it all. Nevada and Rogan are seriously beginning to rival Kate & Curran for my favourite OTP. As always with these authors, the writing is superb and the characters leap off the page. The action scenes are tense and violent but so tightly written that they're never dull. The depth of emotion between Nevada & Rogan sizzles - but all the characters are fleshed out. The hints about Nevada's family's powers are intriguing and the over-arching conspiracy inches forward. A fabulous book!

Book 2 of the Hidden Legacy trilogy
The second book in the Hidden Legacy trilogy (first book "Burn for Me") is, to be blunt, brilliant. I loved, loved, loved the ferrets! Fans of the Ilona Andrews wife and husband writing team will have favourites of the different series that they have published (the Kate Daniels series, the Edge series, the Innkeeper series, etc), but they must be hoping that Hidden Legacy is extended beyond a trilogy into a series...I certainly am. If you have not read any of their books, but are a fan of great world-building, strong (but fallible) characters and humour, then delights await. The authors (who have a hilarious and thoughtful blog under their team writing name) have stated that the Hidden Legacy series was conceived as a way of addressing some of the issues faced by those retired from military service: book 2 in the series does this is spades, whilst being funny, thoughtful and driven by a strong narrative.

Fantastic Roller coaster ride from start to finish.
As usual these authors did not disappoint. In fact they exceeded expectations. The relationships are real and messy, we get to see and understand both Rogan' s motivations more clearly and Nevada's burgeoning magic. The minor characters are deftly drawn and add further intrigue without detracting from the main protagonists. A must read for paranormal romance fans. Eagerly awaiting the last installment also out soon.

Great book
The world building in this is pretty amazing, the Houses, the deeply thought out characters. I love the storylines, too. They're so well interweaved and I cannot wait to see how this series is going to end. I can't leave out the growing relationship between Connor and Nevada, too. I love that, too.Off to start book 3!
