Practical Linear Algebra for Data Science: From Core Concepts to Applications Using Python

Made Math Fun
The author did an excellent job with making the material in the book fun and engaging. You can tell that the words he used in the book are made to sound like he's talking to you to in person. He comes across as knowledgeable about the topic and that the material is genuinely fun for him.I also liked his use of repetition in the concepts. He quite often reiterated points made in previous sections which was refreshing for a beginner/intermediate like myself so that I didn't have to continually flip back and forth while moving through the book.He also used paired visual graphs/cues and code exercises to drive home the absolute core concepts of linear algebra and their use in data science. My only mild complaint/con of the book was that I wish he added more code exercises that acted as practice for the concepts listed. Instead of many different combinations of numbers for practicing the material in the real world, the code exercises were more of a helpful side bar by explaining concepts in more detail. For example in the matrix-vector multiplication section, the only related code exercises are about the actual equation/themes itself instead of different combinations of vectors and matrices for practical, hands-on practice.Overall, I enjoyed reading and learning from this book and would recommend it to a fellow colleague/friend and would buy from this author again in the future.

Best book for understanding the role of Linear Algebra in Machine Learning
If you took a previous course in Linear Algebra and did not understood the rationale of many concepts, then this book is for you. Highly recommended for getting the Aha ! moment instead of using equations in a dogmatic way.

Very good balance of equations, implementation, and application
I have been reading a copy of this on Safari, so I have no physical copy to refer to, mainly because the physical state of O'Reilly's printed books has been very poor the last couple of years. But the contents are excellent. It probably can't really help with a linear algebra class, but if you are learning this for work it is very good. The author shows you the relevant equations, there is usually an illustration, and then he shows you how to perform the function in Python with lots of explanation. There are also several illustrations of how to use a concept in linear algebra to perform a certain task, such as image processing. I highly recommend this book. At least I recommend the contents.

Bad book quality
Haven't read the book yet, so I'll update this review when I finish it, but the quality of the book is terrible. I wouldn't recommend buying it if you care about book quality.

Equations on Kindle Paperwhite are missing key operands
Nearly impossible to follow equations in my Kindle Paperwhite. Missing division and exponential operands, summation notation is sigma symbol without usual sub & superscripts. Equations are shown correctly in my phone’s Kindle app.

Formatting broken on paperwhite
I bought this for the kindle. Content is good, but the formatting for all the formulas is all messed up on kindle paperwhite which makes things hard to follow
