Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones

Where’s The Love For “Angel”?
I only gave this Greatest Hits package four stars for one reason and one reason only…..once again the song, “Angel” is MIA. I have never understood Madonna’s aversion to that song. She co-wrote it with Stephen Bray and she prefers songs that she writes herself. She has never put it on any of her greatest hits compilations. She has not performed it live (to my knowledge) since The Virgin Tour, and even then it did not make it on the final cut of The Virgin Tour home video.(I read it was omitted because Madonna was unhappy with her vocal. The original live performance can be found on YouTube and I hear nothing wrong with it.)I understand why it was not included on The Immaculate Collection. By the time that collection was released, Madonna had already charted over 15 top ten hits on The Hot 100 and you can only fit so many songs on a single disc. I also understand why it was not on Greatest Hits Volume Two because that set included music released after 1992. I even understand why it was omitted from the single disc version of Celebration, but I thought for sure it would be on the two disc set of that collection. I get that “Angel” was overshadowed in airplay by the nearly simultaneous release of “Into the Groove” to radio, but the former still received massive airplay and was a top five hit in its own right. I wish they had released it as a double a-side like they did in Australia where both songs, together hit number one.Fast Forward to 2022. When I found out Warner Brothers/Rhino was releasing a three disc compilation of Madonna’s 50 number one dance hits, I thought to myself “Finally, she will have to include “Angel”. After all, the actual number one 12-inch was “Angel”. As always, I was dead wrong. She opted to include the inferior “You Can Dance” version of “Into the Groove”, as opposed to the flawless original version. If we are including “ITG” as a number one, then technically Madonna has had 51 number one dance hits. To add insult to injury, they even include the artwork for the original 12-inch single (which clearly shows the word, “Angel”) on the front cover of “Finally Enough love” as well as in the liner notes.Incidentally, it is in my personal top two favorite Madonna songs. My favorite would be the original version of “Into the Groove”. I have never been one to purchase many 12-inch singles, but the only way you could get “Into the Groove” in the states at the time was to sit and listen to the radio with your finger ready to press the record button on your cassette recorder or to buy the “Angel” twelve inch single. I chose the latter. I already loved the radio version of “Angel”, but I fell in love with the remix version. It was the first single to include Madonna’s name in the actual song with several male background singers chanting “Madonna” at the beginning and middle of the remix. I remember flipping the 12-inch and playing both sides over and over again until my family got sick of hearing it.My “Angel” rant aside, this is a wonderful collection and a “must have” whether you are an avid Madonna fan (like I am) or someone who is just discovering the Queen of Pop’s music. If Madonna never has another hit (which will probably be the case based on what passes for music on today’s radio) having amassed 50 number one dance hits in one’s career is a feat that cannot be overlooked. How many other artists can say they have had hits in five decades? Elton John comes to mind, but I honestly cannot think of anyone else in the history of music. Madonna is one of the true living legends we have left. The fact that she is now ignored by radio because of her age is heartbreaking. At least dance clubs still appreciate her and “show her love” like she deserves. In closing, I have only one request: If anyone out there knows why “Angel” has been ignored by Madonna and the rest of the world since its original release in 1985, please reply to this review. (Max did walk around playing it and singing along to it in “Stranger Things 3”, but unfortunately, it didn’t have the same impact the inclusion of “Running Up That Hill” had for Kate Bush.) I would also love to hear any theories anyone has. Just like the “Justice for Glitter” campaign Mariah Carey fans started a few years ago, we could start a “Justice for ‘Angel’” campaign. Am I reaching now? Sorry.

AMAZING!
Madonna's 3 disc remix album is beyond indescribable! This really takes long time fans back to certain songs that are part of our teenage years to our young adult lives to nearly 50 and older in what marks her 40 years in music. For me the best part is the remastering of the older songs. Express Yourself Open Your Heart (the never before released video version) and Vogue sound amazing! These songs were really in need of an upgrade and this is top quality. My favorite surprise is the remix for Turn Up The Radio, which I had never heard. This release has a bunch of brand new never before released remixes that are incredible. Keep It Together Impressive Instant and Living For Love are standouts. Add these to your gym workouts, you will feel the energy! This really is a treasure trove for fans and the not so big fan would love this as well. I do have 3 small issues with this release. Causing A Commotion, a number 1 from 1987 was not included on this release, I believe because there was a single vinyl release on its own, still , would have been great to have it here! 2nd, the remix of Like A Prayer here is not the popular dance version the radio always played, Madonna for whatever reason added a different version that I really don't care for. 3rd, the remix of Fever should have been the video remix. The one on this release is a little underwhelming. Nevertheless, this is an epic collection that is long overdue that Madonna produced herself. Finally Enough Love, finally!!!

Madonna 50 Number Ones
A must have for any Madonna fan!

An epic journey of Madonna's 40 year career...with a twist.
This compilation was released to coincide with the 40th Anniversary of her debut single (Everybody), but it also acts as a companion piece to 2009's Greatest Hits album - except with a twist. It's an epic 50 track compilation bursting with 7" edits, and remixes that will leave you gasping for breath by the time it's over. From the moment you hear the opening melody of the first track, "Holiday" you will be instantly transported back to 1983 in a decade where teenage girls wore striped legwarmers, Boy George was the hottest act in pop music and breakdancing and BMX bicycles were taking the world by storm. A time of innocence and purity when most people will agree it was a magical decade where music simply couldn't get any better, but this was only the beginning, she went on to become an even bigger global force when she unleashed her Like a Virgin and True Blue albums, which was when the media crowned her the "Queen of Pop".In 1990, she released her mega-hit "Vogue", a song that set the world's dance floors alight and still being played and influencing so many today. The version here cuts out the long intro and dives straight into it - which is a much better choice for this compilation. A lot of people know this but "Vogue" wasn't intended to be a single, it was supposed to be the B-Side to "Keep it Together" but Warner decided it was far to good and released it as a single."Keep It Together" makes an appearance and couldn't be any different to how it's presented on the "Like a Prayer" album, plenty of thumping beats reminiscent of Soul to Soul's #1 hit, "Back to Life."Justify My Love" is tweaked and made even sexier by William Orbit, who went on to produce her award winning "Ray of Light" album and turned out to be Madonna's biggest selling and critical acclaimed albums next to Like a Prayer."Physical Attraction" is the "You Can Dance" version, but scaled down to 4 minutes and works much better on here. "Like a Prayer" sounds almost thunderous throughout the verses, and the choir combined with screaming guitars at the end are orgasmic. "Deeper and Deeper" is the same version Madonna sang on the Girlie Show, completely disco-fied, the organ provides a touch of warmth too."Don't Cry For Me Argentina" is pure dance euphoria in the same vein as "Hung Up", "Frozen" and "Nothing Really Matters". In fact, this entire collection is easily the best thing she's releasing in a long time. I really don't think I've had this much fun in years. This is an album I'll be listening to for many years to come. It's amazing. What I find so special about it is it's currently performing very well on the global charts and I, (like the rest of her fans) didn't expect it to do as well as it has. It's already out peaked Lady Gaga and Dua Lipa's remix albums, and literally smashed Kylie Minogue's "Boombox" UK chart peak (#28) to smithereens. One reviewer finds it hysterical that UK band, "Steps" has beaten her to #1, but what they didn't tell you is that "Steps" released 20+ different variations of their album and been working themselves into the ground from signing the album covers and making regular appearances all over the UK to bag the #1. Madonna hasn't done any of that and her album is much more expensive. For instance, the 6LP set is £140, the 2 LP set is £40, and the 3 CD set is £19.99, so with all things considered Madonna is doing very well indeed. Not only has this album gone to number one in other territories, she's also broken three records on the Australian ARIA chart:1)-The female artist with the most #1 albums in Australia (12).2)-The first female artist to have a #1 album in Australia in 5 different decades.3)-The first remix album EVER to reach #1 on the ARIA album chartOn a side note, please don't fall into the trap of listening to the negative reviews written by fans of other less fortunate artists. There's a reason why they're trying to sabotage Madonna, so buy, listen and judge for yourself.

THE Blueprint
She's had a rough ride over the past decade, mainly curated by the media who've been itching to bring her down for decades. Well Madonna never gets involved with spats and her enemies directly, she merely lets the music do the talking, and boy does she serve!!!!!This collection whilst by no means complete (where is Causing a Commotion?!), is testament to her gargantuan impact on pop music and pop culture. From the underground new wave discos of New York to the UK's garage scene. Practically every genre of dance is represented here. By every DJ you knew and didnt know! Avicci, Shep Pettibone, Orbit, Junior Vasquez, Morales, the list is endless. Over 30 years since she debuted her first remix album You Can Dance, here we are dancing round our living rooms yet again!!! They're mainly edits of her favourite remixes of the hits that topped the US dance chart. 50 to be exact! And whilst some versions are a questionable addition (where is the Fever Edit one mix?!?!?!), the majority literally transport you back in time. Recent additions like the Offer Nissim Promo mix of Living For Love are a nice touch! That mix is the best from her in 10 years, then there is the video version of Open Your Heart with that incredible intro! Still, i would have liked to see the MTV award version of Vogue with that incredible bridge... but I'm just being picky here! Its an impeccable glimpse into her archive that she never really celebrates. So soak it up!!! It'll just make you want more from the biggest selling female artist of all time, and the one your fave looks up to

Great Nostalgia!
What great nostalgia listening to this! In particular the 90s / 00s tracks take me back to my clubbing days. A lot of forgotten gems on here that are sure to bring back great memories for long-term fans! Some parts of the album left me slightly losing interest (which I guess you could only expect from a 50-track album) but it’s never too long until an awesome track pops up and grabs your attention again!Into The Groove, Secret, Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, Music and Beautiful Stranger are my highlights. For the latter third of the album (that many critics would consider the “weaker” years of Madge’s career), there are some great remixes such as Turn Up The Radio, Bitch I’m Madonna and I Rise.Overall a great trip down memory lane from a collection spanning her whole career. Would defo recommend - Long Live the Queen!

Only to add to collection! Otherwise wouldn’t bother.
Like many Madonna fans the news of a new remix album with 50 of her No1 club mixes sounded great. That is until you realise commercially a rubbish 16 track vinyl was released. The 50 track 6 lp edition was only released through her web page shop but not at time of presale but came up sometime after for a short period of time before being sold out. Virtually every copy now on every-bay at £500. The 16 track vinyl edition is a poor edit containing the majority of worst tracks. 1 ⭐️Ok the 50 edition CD version 3 ⭐️ great if you just want a selection of Madonna tracks but this really is just a cash in. Majority of the tracks were already available commercially a few new mixes but the reason they weren’t previously released is they were substandard compared to mixes released. I’m sorry but to date this is the worst Official Madonna release. The tease of a new Madonna remix album like many I thought would actually be New Remixes not just a rehash of the same material on substandard vinyl and CD. Wouldn’t bother purchasing just listen to it on a streaming device.

Great Collection of Classic Mixes
Apparently The Queen of Pop personally curated this remix collection of her 50 Billboard Dance Chart number ones. It's a very impressive body of work with every track remastered to sound "shiny and new". There's plenty here for the diehard fan or the casual admirer - it's a collection guaranteed to get you moving...
