Great product, order lighter than you think.
This really does a great job covering gray and lasts much longer than other otc box kits I've tried. The color is much darker than expected so order accordingly

A gentle, long-lasting, consistent hair dye
I use Phyto to cover my graying roots. My natural hair color is medium brown, so the "Brown" shade looked like the closest match from the pictures. The Brown shade goes on more like a dark brown initially, but after a wash or two it softens to a medium brown. So just be prepared for that if you go with Brown.I used Naturtint for nearly a decade, but after it started causing scalp irritation and dry, brittle hair, I had to switch. I'm glad I found Phyto. The color lasts well, and aside from that initial fade from dark to medium brown, it is long lasting and consistent. I’ve repurchased this several times now and plan to keep using it.

Great quality, gentle, but get a much lighter shade!!!
Right before I used this, I tried a regular popular drug store brand that burned my scalp after just 5 minutes! I bought this because of its less harsh chemicals and no ammonia, and did not have any irritation. The scent is less chemical-ly too. I wish I read about going shades lighter because I have very dark brown hair naturally, used the brown, and it’s almost darker than my natural hair! Greys are gone and it’s a fairly even application but it’s taking time to get used to this look! I would like to hold judgement on longevity. I’d prefer a tiny fade so the color looks more natural…

Just look at my picture!
What more can I say. Wow. I was really hesitant to do this myself, but I put it on waited 30 minutes, rinsed it out….I feel like my old self again instead of a 52-year-old lady with gray hair.

Best gray coverage I have found
I am a 60 year old woman with long hair and have a lot of gray hair from ears to the top mostly underneath so when my hair is down its not that noticeable but if I pull my hair back suddenly I am gray. I have tried all the drugstore coloring that say they are specific to gray coverage. After applying per instructions within a few days the now white hair at my ears would be white again and within a couple of weeks I would see it coming off the rest. The hair that is not gray would maintain the color. I am naturally a dark dirty blonde so I don't go much outside that. Either a light brown or dark blonde like I have done at times throughout my life mostly in winter when I am not outside much. I used this dark golden blonde around the end of July because I was reading forums and reviews online about best gray coverage and this brand came up. This is when I am outside all the time in the sun. I am SO impressed. It's a month and a half later and my grays are still covered except normal root growth. It didn't just wash off like the others. I have psoriasis on my scalp now too and have to do the salicylic acid shampoos when it gets bad that should help strip the color but I haven't noticed it doing that. I did switch back to the pureology hydrating shampoo and conditioner around the same time but I was using Paul Mitchell before that so I don't think my hair products contributed to the other colors failing. The pureology is the only thing that seems to keep post menopausal hair from feeling like straw and helps my scalp. I am a total convert to this hair colorant. Because I use close to my own natural color the grays still holding color really tell me if it is working. The other colors held up on my "original" hair but they just faded almost immediately right off the grays. Then you are stuck because you either have to live with the gray or figure out how to pick out just the gray to constantly touch it up. I just don't want to spend hours in a salon. I did that once getting color and highlights and it was beautiful but sitting there for how long it took drove me crazy. Now I don't have to.

Not chemical free
I constantly try to find a natural hair color, and based on the reviews decided to try Phyto hair color 7 Blonde. Shade is more of between dark to medium brown depending on the base color and duration of the application. Prior, I used a Herbatint 1 part #5 and 2 parts of #6 or #7, it was coming out as natural medium brown. All henna hair colors tend to turn red if exposed to elements (Sun, ocean water or unfiltered shower water). Phyto color mixture is difficult to apply as it tends to solidify very quickly (maybe it needs a little oil), and as a result I pulled a lot of hair out, smells nice, looks natural, and I did used shampoo right after washing the color off, which did not affect the process. I kept it on for 1 hour, and it still didn’t cover gray hair 100%, the ends of my hair turned into a straw like texture. Not sure if I will use it again to color my hair. Update : since the coloring, my hair were much softer, so decided to order a different shade 6.77 light cappuccino, however, twice received a 5.7 shade instead, and cannot comment on a cappuccino color.

Not available in Paris
I wish I could get the formula for my hair down correctly. I tried dark blonde for 40 minutes and it was too dark. I then tried a level 9 and it was too light and I felt it did not cover my 90% grey. An interesting note, you cannot find this product in Paris. I must have gone to 20 different stores and only found 1 or 2 boxes of deep colors. You would think that a box with the Paris label is actually available in Paris. I have a level 6 and 9 here. I’m going to try to mix them.
