How To Use The Adapter
Never having used an adapter before I had to look on the internet for instructions. None come with this. The adapter looks like a regular SD card with the contacts just like an SD card. There is a slot on the bottom edge of the adapter to insert the micro sd card. It took me several trials and errors before I learned that the card (contacts down like the contacts on the adapter) must be pushed in all the way so that it does not protrude from the bottom edge of the adapter. Only then will the sd card register on your computer.Be aware that it takes a little pressure to push the card all the way into the adapter and it takes some effort to pull it out. To pull it out you must grip it (there is a cut out on face of adapter) with the nails of two fingers and pull. I must admit that I was concerned that when I first tried to remove the sd card and it would not come out that I started contemplating destroying the adapter to remove the card, but with continued tugging it did. The sd card is so tiny that when pushed all the way into the adapter there is not much exposed of the card that you can grip with your finger nails. The adapter works and the price is good. Just be aware if you are using an adapter for the first time like I was that you will have some anxious moments.

Does it's job. No complaints.
Pretty straight forward... The product does it's job. Not really a big necessity anymore with current forms of data storage, but in fact that is why I bought it. I found an old cell phone of mine that was very dead (irreparable), but I was fortunately able to salvage the MicroSD memory card from it and in turn save all of the pictures and whatnot I had once stored on it. I was actually pleasantly surprised with everything I found on there. This is a handy little tool to have for these off-the-beaten-path problems.

2 have failed so far . . .
UPDATE, 12/29/13: The second one has now failed after a few uses. Took it apart but can't see what's wrong. Not worth it. I'll just spend $4.50 and get a real SanDisk. This is a knockoff.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought it to be able to directly upload pictures from the micro SD card in my smart phone to my iMac computer. The first one did nothing when inserted in my iMac with the smart phone card in it. So I ordered a second one, and it worked!. For under $3 (with free shipping from Amazon Prime), I got a working adapter.Judging from all the other reviewers who had a similar experience, I would guess that this is a bad production lot. It would cost the manufacturer too much to test them individually, so they just decided to sell them off at a distressed price. You might want to order 2 or even 3, to improve your chances of getting a good one--and you might end up with a working spare. Before ordering my second one, I tried testing the first defective unit to see what was wrong. The circuit board pops right out when you pry apart the two pieces of the plastic cover. As the circuit consists of nothing but large contacts routed to small contacts, I used my audio continuity tester to see what's going on. I found that the large contacts 3 and 4 (counting from the right) seemed to be shorted together. No easy way to fix it though. For $1.40 just threw it out and got another.

Not the standard Sandisk Red, White, & Blue.
I ordered two of these because I misplaced my original MicroSD adapter. I've been a photographer for over 30 years and I've always been partial to Sandisk. I was using a 64GB MicroSD for a recently purchased GoPro camera, and when I went to download some video, I couldn't find my adapter that came with my card. So I started checking around and decided to purchase a couple of these adapters. They arrived fairly quick, however, when I opened the package, I received two adapters that are both solid black, with the Sandisk logo on them. They look nothing like the photo they used to sell the item, and nothing like my original. Like I said, I've been using Sandisk for many years, and I've never seen a "black label" card. Every one I've ever seen is the standard "Red, White, and Blue". So I guess the main thing would be, "do they work"? Well prior to the adapters arriving, I found my misplaced adapter, and I also ordered a "Delkin" card reader from Amazon that reads MicroSD, so I haven't had the chance to try them out yet. I'm not sure if they're knock offs or the real deal, but for a buck forty & free shipping I can afford to toss them if they don't work. Just figured I would spend a few minutes to tell everyone that you might not get an adapter that looks like the photo they're using to sell them with.

Cheap knock off, but will work if you get a good one.
These are fakes. Counterfeits. They are not genuine SanDisk adapters. The product does not match the appearance of the photo on amazon. The first one I received had a bent and pushed in metal contact and would not work. I contacted the seller, and they immediately sent me another adapter free of charge. When the second one arrived, it also had a bent contact, but not nearly as bad. The second one does work... So, these adapters will work provided you get a good one, but i cannot give these a high rating because of the extreamly poor build quality... They are probably no name adapters that didn't pass quality standards that someone slapped a sticker that says SanDisk on to try to make a few quick bucks. The pictures included are of the first card i received. You can see that it does not match the appearance of the amazon photo and you can also see the bent and pushed in metal contact (4th one from the left).
