Heavy-duty workhorse
I did some research before I purchased and it was between Staub and Le Creuset. I wanted a large dutch oven for stews and soups that would cook evenly. The patented lid with its unique bubbles and tight fit keep moisture in to allow for self basting. It browns dishes well. I also appreciated it arrived ready to use and I did not have to oil it before the first use. I am very happy with my purchase.

Beware! It is 2nd quality
The color has variations throughout & the lid doesn’t match. It is NOT first quality. It was such a large investment for me. I am so disappointed in the seller & in Amazon for not protecting me. In order to get my money back, I have to pay postage back to Europe. It is the price of the pot. Please beware!

Item was delivered with a small scratch
Item was delivered with a small nick on the lid, it looks like it was from the screw for the handle that had come loose. Expensive to have something not perfect.

Disappointed in Staub
I choose Staub over LeCrueset for the legendary tight fitting lid. Mine rocks, it would be fine on a $50 Lodge, I expect more from Staub. Also there is a bubble in the enamel on the rim, see photos. The advertising pics show full enamel all around the handles too, mine has almost no enamel on inside of handles, see pics. Will update when I have had a chance to cook several dishes and can advise on performance. Intial impressions are not great though. So far I have cooked, Beef roast, boeuf bourguignon, Turkey en cocotte, chicken a few different ways, and a couple pork dishes, no soups, breads or casseroles. The performance has been very good. I remain disappointed the lid rocks, and if I want a tight seal I place foil over the top then put the lid on, same as with a cheap Dutch Oven. Clean up has been excellent (I haven't burned anything yet though) and we don't find the dark interior to make cleaning difficult.Overall, it's a beautiful pot if you aren't looking for flaws, and the performance is certainly there. For the cost increase of "Genuine French Cast Iron ™" you may find the flaws I have found to be problematic.
