Heaven Group Discussion Guide Paperback – May 1, 2009

In the middle of this study with a group of ladies from church. Excellent study! Solid! And after being a christian for over 40 years it has caused me to reexamine scripture. I have learned so much.

I thoroughly enjoyed this guide. It made the Heaven Book come alive and it painted a extremely inviting view of life in Eternity.

We read the full text of "Heaven" and my husband felt led to lead a Bible study on the topic. Based upon the information available, we selected this study guide as we knew people would not put the in-depth study needed in the other study guide. However, I am disappointed at the lack of content in this guide. To be fair, the author recommends participants use "50 Days of Heaven" along with it, but not everyone wants to spend the extra cash on another book. I've been reading "50 Days" and find it provides much needed additional information. The questions in the weekly discussion are good as is the video, but I think the participants come with little knowledge of the subject. We pull out the Scriptures as much as possible to support the discussion, but it could be meatier. I think people would spend $15 on one combination book of "50 Days" and the discussion guide, if this were offered.

We are using this study in a men's group and it has generated a lot of good discussion. Not everyone agrees with all of Randy's position, but it is well supported with scripture references and does fill in a lot of gaps for us. The guide has a lot of exercises for us to work through to help develop his position and conclusions.

Randy Alcorn brings up some very interesting topics. I definitely learned some new ideas I hadn't thought of before. I would definitely recommend purchasing his book to go along with this discussion guide since he refers to it quite often. We only had one book in our bible study and whoever was leading got to use it. It would have been very helpful to have one for everyone.

It isn't just blather about what he thinks. Randy Alcorn backs up everything with Scripture and when he is just stating his opinion, he tells you. I'd recommend it anyone who wants to know what the future of believers in Jesus Christ holds.

This has been passed on to a friend so I only glanced through it. But as a follow up to the main book - 'Heaven' by Randy Alcorn, which I can highly recommend - it will no doubt enlarge on the question of ... "Are we ready for Heaven and what do we expect when we get there". You really need to read the main book first, but this much smaller book is a useful addition.
