Great, Inexpensive Box Cutter with Safety Features!
I use this opener/box cutter all the time. I have several in the house. I really started using this thing a lot after I started doing a lot of shopping on Amazon back when my kids were in diapers. We ordered a ton of diapers and they always came in huge cardboard boxes. I saw how many we were throwing out and decided to get on a recycling kick. This box cutter made easy work of breaking the boxes down so we could fit them in our recycle bins (as required by the recycling company). This has also been my go-to tool for opening the kids' toys. You can work with it very precisely to cut tape and all those little rubber bands and ropes that hold toys and dolls in the boxes without cutting up the toys. I like how the box cutter blade is automatically retractable and the rope cutter blade is pretty well covered. We can leave it in the junk drawer with little risk to little kid fingers that might be reaching in there. The blade dulls eventually, but it has worked well for me for years under moderate use and it is inexpensive to replace. This is a simple tool that does a lot without the fuss of a big, fancy and dangerous box cutter knife. Worth every penny!

Needed New One After 20 Years
In the marketing dept, I was in charge of ordering anything we could put our logo on; and my specialties supplier came back from her convention -- where companies demo new products--- with one of these. She had put her logo on it and was distributing it to her customers. She said.. "you've GOT to see this" and I thought really?? And then I tried it -- Yowza -- It does the job better than anything and in the past 20 years I've opened A LOT of those plastic packages. Love it, love it. A week or so ago I went to open a package and one of the ends broke off. I was destroyed ... OH NO! We need to find another one of these things -- the prospect of being without it was unthinkable. I found one, I ordered one and expect to happily use this one for the NEXT 20 years!! Awesome product.

Oh, the irony!
The irony is thick with this product. The idea is that it makes packages easy to open, right? 1. It comes in one the very packages (not Amazon, but the product packaging itself) where you would use this very device to open. So, to solve the problem of these stupid blister packs, it ships in a.... blister pack. 2. The button that slides out the spring-loaded razor blade can only be operated with your right hand (ergonomically). It calls itself a "Universal Package Opener", but it's not ambidextrous. It was tree-fiddy, so it's not like I'm out a lot of money. The letter-opener style fixed blade is usable by either hand, although the slide button for the retractable blade is under your palm (near the index finger) if the product is properly indexed in the hand (for lefties). Interesting concept, mediocre execution.

Does the job
I ordered this as my last one (that I had for 15 years) finally gave up the ghost. This package opener is very say to use. I have some arthritis in my hands so having this is a must for me. It is very sturdy as witnessed by my last one lasting so long (just don’t abuse it and use it in ways not intended). I don’t know if it’s giftable or not. I would like it if one of my grandkids gave it to me but if my husband did? I might not be too thrilled!

My favorite, so easy is to use two cutting places
I’ve had mine for years. On my favorite news program the reporter was just stating how wonderful this blade was to open boxes with that everyone should get one. I don’t believe it was being sponsored by think he just liked it so much he wanted to tell everyone about it and I thought wow so I ordered one well we miss placed it still have not found it and was so bummed out. My husband tried other blades are just like no I want my yellow box opener so I went back on Amazon found it, yay. So now we have it and we’re very careful with it where we place it and I believe at the time I bought all my children one to have in their house and everybody likes it. I would be so surprised when you purchase this that you don’t like it try it you’ll like it and never want another kind.

This opens packages
It’s not much else this is good, for I’ve tried teaching it to drive tried teaching it to open drawers . it has failed at all those tasks but I get something delivered and plastic. This thing works like a charm. Highly recommend.

Seems to work okay
Well, it will cut in a straight line, but around tight curves, it is rather awkward. The idea is great. Unfortunately, the plastic it cuts seems to be getting heavier, and much tougher to cut. I think this type of packaging is the worst thing ever invented! Sometimes, I feel like beating it with a hammer, or getting out my power saw to cut through it. Whoever thought this stuff up (the plastic packaging) should be made to stand around for a day, and open up intricate packages covered with his invention. I thought this opener would finally be the ultimate answer, but it falls a little short. It does work, don't get me wrong, it's just not real easy to use. And, I'm always afraid of cutting myself with the cut edges of the plastic, once it has been exposed.
