GREAT set of carbide chisels! Perfect for beginners if you don't want to sharpen HSS chisels!
I'm VERY pleased with this set of carbide chisels. As a new beginner to wood turning, I found these carbide chisels were the perfect set to learn with. The learning curve is a little more easier compared to HSS chisels. I watched SEVERAL YouTube videos on how to use carbide chisels for wood turning, and they were invaluable! They helped me with a lot of tricks and tips, such as chisel position, types of chisels, which ones to use when making certain cuts, and overall safety. If your new to wood turning, and self taught, I suggest you do the same. I recently purchased a Laguna Revo 1216 on Facebook Market Place, with included a few carbide chisels, and a Nova chuck. I couldn't be happier with it. Great features, versatile, outboard turning, variable speed, and reverse. Its been a pleasure turning wood with it. If you plan on turning acrylics, resin, or plastics, I suggest that you purchase NEGATIVE RAKE carbide tips instead! The standard carbide tips on these chisels will "bite" or chip into the acrylic/resin piece, and you'll probably end up with a rough finish. The negative rake carbide tips DO cost MORE than your standard carbide ones, but you'll have better results with them. Also, you CAN sharpen your carbide tips if all sides become dull (DON'T sharpen/use if they are CHIPPED). Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this chisel set, and would recommend it for beginners!

Easy to learn to use
Very easy to get used to these tools as a new turner. The quality is solid as well it seems. I've turned about 20 things with them and haven't changed the bits yet, which are cheap to get replacements and quick to change also. I've switched primarily to carbide tools now because of this.

Seems to Work Well
No real problems with these tools. The carbide is fairly standard, so I was able to purchase replacements at a reasonable cost. Note: some small tools use non-standard carbide, and you can only purchase replacements from the manufacturer at high prices. It's nice to have two handles so that I don't have to switch tools too often. The handles are a bit too small (around) for my taste - I'd like a bit fatter handles. I may make handles for the tools so that each tool will have a permanent handle and the handle will be shaped to my preferences.

Nice turning tools.
I like the ease of wood removal and the square shanks. It makes it easier to control on the tool rest. Finish is a little rough compared to my regular chisels, but hey, don't need to sharpen these!

Great quality & price
This set works great, so much better than my homemade carbide cutters. These are very sharp, cut smoothly and easily. I also like that it's easy to set the length a little shorter which works better for my mid-sized lathe.Quality seems quite good, from the carbide cutters to the shafts to the handles. The shafts have rather sharp corners which some may want to round over a little but I haven't had any problems with them, such as catching. I use mostly carbide cutters but occasionally still use HSS.The only CON I might have, and it isn't a big one, is that if the shaft is extended far out, the tool, since the handle is aluminum, will feel a little unbalanced. The bottom of the handle can be unscrewed and some ballast could be added if desired to make the handle heavier. But I'm not sure that is needed.Overall, I am very pleased with this set. Most likely I will want to buy more handles, right now I have the 2 handles on the most often used cutters.I would definitely recommend this set.

Nice set
Nice set of chisels. The main chisel shaft is heavy and stiff and the handle is light and comfortable. I like the length they have too, I prefer longer chisels and they adjust far enough out to meet my preferences.I knocked out a toy top to get the feel of them and made a additional wood handle for the set. I'm going to make one more for the last chisel. If it wasn't worth the enjoyment of making the handle I would just look to buy additional handles, they are nice.I wouldn't say they are a cheap tool but have good value compared too a expensive set. You get four carbide chisels for less than the cost of one expensive chisel.

Solid value for the money
I was already familiar with carbide turning tools but I wanted a square bar for more stability. These, so far, are very good tools. The swan neck hollower is helpful, although the regular cutter that it comes with is a bit aggressive. I will probably replace it with a negative rake cutter. The case is an extra bonus. The size is as described.

Handle Arbor is aluminum!!
Handle arbor is advertised as SS, but I received an aluminum arbor witch is too soft for this application. The broached square hole for mounting the chisel in the handle is about .020 to big, allowing for side to side movement. This hole should be a high tolerance +_ .002, as supplied I received a .020 over size hole. This would allow a side to side movement of about 1/8 inch. Chisel steel is poorly finished looks like they sanded it with 80 grit sanding belt, carbide is very sharp, handle aside from the arbor is nicely made but to short.
