Good Shockwave Therapy Unit
I use this unit to keep my foot metatarsalgia in check. It is the identical machine that my Podiatrist used in her office. Nosy me looked at the unit at my first treatment and - wouldn't ya' know...here it is on Amazon! The cost of this unit (when I bought it) was less than the cost of one $300 treatment in her office. It paid for itself with one treatment.I have used it 10 times now, and it has performed great with no problems.+Safety note...be sure to wear hearing protection since the sound of the bullet heads hammering can be quite loud.

revised review - fell apart after two months - no response from vendor
The product directions are very incomplete. There is no direction on how to change heads or what to do with replacement parts and included tools. Time will tell on how durable it is.above is my initial review. Three heads broke after less than 10 uses on each. After two months, the serial port socket came apart from the main board. I contacted the vendor after the first head broke and no response. I attempted more contacts and finally spoke to Amazon customer service who told me it was under warranty but they couldn't find vendor info to contact them. I had purchased Assurion warranty and they advised me to contact Amazon directly again as they confirmed it was under warranty. Although it's covered, I'm out the sales tax and cost of the warranty ($30 to 40) and have to ship the unit back.

Instructions a little confusing
I bought this at a little over 2 months after total knee replacement. First thing, there’s a warning about using this kind of device on artificial joints but that’s not what I am treating. I developed a very large amount of scar tissue above the patella that doesn’t track properly; also a Baker’s cyst that developed prior to surgery wasn’t resolving. As those who’ve had TKR may know there are other aches and pains that develop post surgery due to the new anatomy and post operative gait issues which this device can address.Anyone who writes a review here is giving opinion which is anecdotal. It does appear that medical research indicates it can be effective. My opinion is that over the past few weeks there’s been substantial improvement based on symptoms and reduction of scar tissue and the Baker’s cyst. This is after using a TheraGun and infrared therapy (which I still use) along with continued physical therapy.I bought this unit because I wanted one that is corded and happy with that decision. It is more powerful than the StemWave treatment that I paid physical therapy for but I’m sure they could have dialed up the StemWave. At a minimum of $50 per treatment for StemWave ($90 per session unless you buy a 10 session package) I thought this device might be worth the investment. The instructions aren’t the best. First, make sure the switch is turned on the back of the case. Go ahead and use the largest head that should already be mounted on the device unless you know what you’re doing or have a specific need (ED heads for example). There are a couple of tables that seem to conflict or are confusing. Just know that the default setting when you turn it on (the lower left setting should light up when first booted) is the one which you can adjust the settings. The power and frequencies will be at level 1. The power needs to be at a level which doesn’t cause much discomfort and it set too high might cause bruising and even be detrimental. There’s a table that will let you calculate the power if you notice a small calculation that needs to be done. The various other images can be selected but the images are random and aren’t intuitive. You need to consult the instruction manual and do some educated guessing when using those selections. Fortunately, ESWT is relatively forgiving. If choosing one of the pre-sets you cannot fine tune from there so I tend to use the manual setting (default). Doing a little research it doesn’t seem frequency is quite as important as the power level and number of sessions per week. Best I can tell a frequency between 5-8 Hz and 1-2 sessions per week is a good place to start.I’ve found that massage oil works better than conductive gel given the gel dries out during the session. There could be a concern that the oil may eventually deteriorate the protective latex covers, who knows?I saw reports “it worked a couple times then quit”. First thing is that the case acts as a stand for the device (see picture). When you are done you can place the device upright and let the fan run until things cool down. The device will then turn the fan off and enter a sleep mode. The manufacturer provides extra fuses which I haven’t had to use. There are no instructions on how to replace but guessing it wouldn’t be too hard.I would give this 5 stars but have only been using it for a couple of weeks (so far, so good) and I don’t think the instruction manual is as clear or comprehensive as it could be. Hope this helps.
