In "The Swap" virtues that have never gone out of style are explored in a modern day setting as two middle-schoolers, Ellie O'Brien and Jack Malloy, magically and involuntarily swap bodies. Jack and Ellie might look as if their lives are perfect from the outside, but like every adolescent each is dealing with his or her own share of psychological and emotional challenges. Over the course of a weekend, Ellie and Jack gain perspective about their real selves and the people who love them as well as those who pose challenges to their happiness. Both act nobly in their temporary roles, with the delightful result that upon returning to their own bodies each discovers that troubling relationships have improved and life looks a good bit rosier than it had before the swap. Kudos to Megan Shull for writing an entertaining and insightful book. Review: Fun book to read! - This is just an adorable book! One of my favorite movies is Freaky Friday, and this story is a similar story line, with a teen girl swapping places with a teen boy. It's the cutest story, with Ellie, the shy red headed soccer player, and Jack, the popular hockey player. Ellie is having a rotten day with her former best friend being really mean to her. Jack gets in a fight and knows he is in serious trouble with his dad. They are both in the nurse's office when crazy things start happening. It makes for a fun story with some very cool teens. I loved the book and highly recommend it.

Another home run for Megan Shull!
The Swap is one of the best books I have read in a long time!! It is the perfect story for kids to have a look into how "easy" it seems to be someone else. Kids can learn that everyone of us have adversities and our own "story", and they should respect people for who they are. It is hilarious, witty, and touching to see the characters grow throughout the story. It really is a must read for kids ages 8-15! I even loved it as a 35 year old adult. I am definitely saving this one for my two sons to read when they are old enough. Thanks Megan! Another home run!!

Cute and sonetimes a little funny
We rounded up from 3 and !/2. You have to be willing to suspend your disbelief. Once your left your plausibility behind its a cute enough story with a bit of a decent moral. Your life doesn't suck quite as bad as you think it does and the other guy doesn't have it quite as easy you think.

YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!!!!👍👍
I'm a 13 year old girl in 7th grade, and all I can say is wow. This book has to be my favorite so far in well, life. It is somehow odly relatable. I was actually getting in trouble for staying up too late to read. That is something you never hear from a 13 year old. There have been so many times where I have gotten board with books and decided to just not finish, but this was the total opposite. I was actually sad when I did finish it, because I just wanted to keep reading it. I truly hope that the author writes a sequel to the book, so we can find out what Elle's transition is like to a new house of boys, and what Jack thinks about his new sister. I JUST WANT TO GIVE A HUGE THANK YOU TO MEGAN SHULL FOR GIVING ME A BOOK I DIDN't WANT TO PUT DOWN.

"say its the BEST BOOK EVER
how is it that i'm only now writing a review of this lovely book!? all three of my kids (ages 10-13) read it months ago, as soon as they could. my daughter is looking over my shoulder right now and says, "say its the BEST BOOK EVER!!!" it is the best book ever. we all loved it. i will never forget the night my daughter couldn't stop laughing (right after "the swap") as she read in her bed. i loved that my kids could step into other people's lives and witness the the love and loss in that is so richly conveyed by Megan Shull. FIVE stars, all the way.

Sweet and Funny book
Sweet book that I would recommend to both younger and older teens. The first chapters started slow but then really took off. I finished reading it in one sitting. It was fun and I could really relate to the characters. It even made me laugh out loud at times as it took me through the problems that both of the main characters faced when they changed bodies. The basic premise is similar to the movie freaky friday but much much better.

Kept the pages turning.....
I honestly cannot give enough praise to this book, or the author. I read this wonderful story after stumbling across the movie, and this is truly one of those instances where the book wholeheartedly trumps the film. I knocked this book out in less than 24 hours (with an 8 hour work day and sleep in between). Utterly amazing. I would also like to add, that as a hockey player, and a die-hard fan, the attention to detail when describing a hockey rink is absolutely spot-on. Kudos to the author for taking the initiative to get the little things right.
