DW 5000 Series Lowboy Hi-Hat Stand W/Cymbals & Gig Bag

I make alot of my own instruments, but after digging through DIY lowboys I realized the price is not so bad compared to the amount of time and work I'd do to make one. Also more compact than I thought. As a DW drum piece, it's well built. Only issue is the cymbals, as many say, are not of high quality. I wanna say it's a 9" cymbal set? Probably going to upgrade to a 13" in the near future.Final point: If you need it, you need it. Got this for my suitcase drum kit and it has taken the set to another level.

A funky little piece of hardware, only suitable for specific situations but I like it and enjoy something different.Only downside is that you cannot adjust the tension at all, and it is pretty stiff compared to other hi-hatsAlso, the cymbals it comes with are terrible, but I was expecting that

Definitely conga, cajon accoustic setting usable. The more I use it the more I like it. Adds a good feel to my bossa conga sounds. Feels comfortable, natural and similar to a normal hi-hat to me. Has a slight swoosh sound that resembles a cabasa to my ear ... I like that as I want to use it to add a bit of latin feel. I almost did not buy this because of the few and negative reviews, it is pricey but for the unique tool it is if it worked well I really can use it. I think it will. I will post again in a few months. I did have a quality control problem as it was shipped without the hi-hat clutch ... BUT Amazon had a complete new unit out in less than 48 hours ... how can you beat that for service and it was a no hassle chat session they used so no tension.

I wanted to like this product so badly. It looked like it would have been a perfect addition to my acousitc setup. From a quality standpoint it’s built well, and it looks cool, but it’s very wobbly (especially from side to side) when playing. The baseplate isn’t level either (unless mine was just defective). I placed it on a granite counter top to check to see if it was flat/level and it wobbled from front to back. The cymbals also sound really cheap. I realize I probably could have upgraded them later but it would have been nice to get a better sound right out of the box. It’s too bad because it’s a great concept. If they changed the shape of the baseplate to have a larger/wider footprint thus making it more sturdy, and if it came with slightly better cymbals it would probably be a great product. I hope DW doesn’t discontinue it. Just make it better!

There’s no assembly instructions, so it’s actually impossible to review the product because I can’t put it together. I have assembled a standard size HH on my kit, but this one’s different. I’m sure there are people who can do it. But for those of us who can’t some directions would’ve been helpful.

I use this with my cajon and a DW5000 cajon pedal for acoustic gigs with my band. Everyone loves the way it’s allowed me to give the music more of a drum set groove.

The media could not be loaded.  My husband and daughter are both enjoying this mini hi-hat. Easily portable with carrying bag.

great addition to playing Cajon. So easy to carry around, too.
