Keeps my children from slamming the door open or closed.
Bought 2 of these for soft open and soft close for my bathroom door that I converted to a pocket door. They more than doubled the cost of the hardware, but after installing the door they proved worth the expense. They work using a spring and slow closing piston. Follow the instructions closely or you will break the closer. There is a plastic (likely nylon) part that catches on the stop attached to the frame. The number of plastic parts concern me for its longevity. I am hoping the parts most affected by impact from use are strong enough to withstand years of use.I am also concerned about the hollow core door. It appears to be designed to work with real solid wood (not solid core) doors. The Masonite door I have it installed on is MDF on the top where the hanger bracket attaches to the door. If that part fails it will take some creative carpentry to repair or some expense for a solid wood door. The hardware appears to be well capable of handling a heavy solid door. Each kit I received came with a ball bearing roller with closers, zinc plated stop bracket, cadmium plated door bracket, 2 zinc plated pan head screws around #12, an adjusting wrench, and instructions. You will need the wrench to adjust the height. If you install for soft open you will need access to the pocket end of the track to install AND adjust the open position stop. Be mindful of that if your door is already installed and covered or before you cover the pocket area. The instructions are available from LE Johnson website and make this fact very clear.Overall, good quality, easy installation, works great, highly recommended.

Works great but a warning
This product works great. I bought one to see how it worked and then bought another one for our second sliding door. I installed a motion detector switch in our laundry room that I really like but its right next to the entrance. When you walk by or the dog walks by the light comes on if the door is even a little bit open. I couldn't get my wife and kids to keep the door completely closed as you have to be careful to make sure it doesn't bounce back when closing. This fixed that. It doesn't take long to learn how to apply the right amount of force that will make the door get close enough for the automatic closer to engage and finish the job. The force doesn't have to be exact, just close enough to engage the closer.A warning. The track on the sliding door has to be the right size to fit the rollers on the latch. Mine were too small so I had to buy the door track and hardware. Since the track runs up inside the wall when opened you have to figure out a way to get it out and get the other one in if your track has to be changed. You can always tear out the wall but that requires a lot of work. I built a tool that pivoted on a vertical board and strapped an electric screwdriver to the end that would fit up inside the wall to remove and reinstall the screws that hold the track. It worked great but you have to be a little creative about how to build the tool. It’s now June 2021 and everything still works great I added a mudroom to our house that had a sliding door and of course purchase this product again. However this time I installed it before the door was installed so everything was much easier.

Bought two for soft open and close
The media could not be loaded. Fit perfectly in the Johnson track. Was a very easy install when the walls are open. If drywall is already up, you’d need to cut some access for the soft open side. The rollers slide smoothly and the soft open/close is very effective.

Good once you know how to install them and you need 2 per door!
First off, you need 2 kits for soft open and soft close per door slab. Each kit does open OR closed, but not both. You cannot add these to a retrofit without taking the entire track down on a single slab door. On a dual there should be a gap between the tracks to slide them in. You still need to open the wall against the door to lock the soft close in place and adjust it though. These should be installed and adjusted before you sheetrock both sides of the wall. If you're only doing a single door you need to install the soft close kits before the track goes up. Once they're in the track they are very easy to install and adjust (if the wall is open) and they work great. My clients haven't had any issues with them on a handful of jobs over the last year.

Very nice to keep kids from slamming pocket doors open or shut!
I used two of these for double pocket doors with glass. Using two of them allows it to be soft close and open. So now kids (or adults) can slam the doors open or close and they land softly and fully open or close. As to durability they are doing great, they've been installed for over 3 years and working as good as the day I installed them.

Great function
This product is great for preventing the pocket door from bouncing back when opening or closing the door. We install them as closers which takes 10-20 minutes additional install time. As openers, they can take hours to install if the track isn’t installed properly. They do not work perfectly at slowing slammed doors, as this can deactivate the catch, requiring the door to be removed to reset the mechanism.

Perfect door closing every time!
Loved the outcome and the straight-forward instructions for new installations was easy, but could also see how it might be a little inconvenient for existing installs since it requires the complete removal of the track from the frame.Overall, a great product!
