Is there a way to force the default answer format to be in decimal instead of funky fractions, requiring use of the "change" key?

I changed my EL-W516X to display decimals instead of fractions by changing it to Line View: Press 2ND F -> MATH (for SET UP) -> 2: EDITOR -> 1: LINE.

I can save mathematical formulas and equations in the calculator memory?

You can store four formulas in F1, F2, F3, F4. I have stored the quadratic formulas and the vertex formulas for a parabola, -B/2A, (4AC-B^2)/4A.

I bought this calculator but upon opening the package I found that the calculator wasn't coming on. Does anybody know how this can be fixed?

Before you return, try resting it by a window to charge the solar cells. I have found that if I don't use it for a while it may not come on until it gets a few minutes "in the sun". I think that it should not do that but after 10-15 minutes it was functioning, and for weeks.

Is this an rpn calculator? similar to hp35s

This Calculator (Sharp EL-W516TBSL) does not have RPN abilities. I don't know/ heard of a Sharp calculator having RPN abilities just HP's as of now. I have played and own different types of HP RPN calculators including HP35s, I think RPN is pretty cool and fun to use. I do have an older ver/ model of this Sharp calculator and does not have RPN. Hope this helps
