I would often mix small quantities of mortar in a large bucket, but it's hard work. This tray allows for easy mixing and would easily allow for mixing two full buckets of sand/cement. The raised edge means the mortar stays within the tray, and not on your lawn/drive. I've often thought of buying one of these, but thought it a gimmick, however I'm a convert, it's really useful and durable. After use, just scrape off any residue and swill out with water. It's worth shopping around for the best price, many sellers offer the same item, however I paid a higher price as the seller could deliver next day.

Did the job required and protected a lawn area I was having to use. However the base could do with being a little thicker as eventually the weight of hand mixed concrete caused it too split despite gentle use and cleaning thoroughly at the end of each mix. Consider as a potentially disposable item and your expectation will be met.

Wife loves it as DIY muck mixing normally leaves a stain on the ground. With this, the mess goes with away from sight... Also, found another use - dog paddling pool. Normal plastic pools only last one bite or claw scratch. These last for ever:-)

Great for knocking up concrete/cement in my garden as well as a host of other tasks like servicing my lawn mower avoiding any liquid spills.

I purchased this to mix concrete in - as advertised. It broke within the first 5 minutes of such use. It is NOT suitable for concrete mixing - the base is too thin and brittle for such a heavy task. The product was missold.
