The Illuminati Tarot: Keys of Secret Societies

A COLLECTOR’S REVIEW
I was trained in cartomancy, including tarot, before I was ten. My grandmother insisted that I make my own symbols and she drew a few on wood chips, advising me to use the next two decades to create what she called the Drom Ek Romani (Way of One Gypsy). There are 22 cards and they are similar to the tarot’s Major Arcana. I give you this explanation because I will not be reviewing the Illuminati Tarot as an actual working deck but as a collector’s treasure. This is a lovely deck that should be wrapped in a fine scrap of silk and kept in a bedside drawer next to the book. I learned so much about secret societies although my father was a Mason and knowledgeable about world symbols, including the tarot. While some children would sneak into their parents’ room to look for sexually-related paraphernalia, I would look for books and pamphlets from the Masonic Temple. No real need to play detective anymore; many of my questions are answered in Casey DuHamel’s book. Her choice of symbols will enhance the tarot readings and prompt you to bring richer interpretations to the querent. The only point I disagree with is the switch between Major Arcana cards 8 and 11. To me, passed down through the generations, Strength is always needed before the mind can think and mete out Justice, so 8 will always be Strength and 11 Justice. I know that there are two roads of thought and it is not really a serious problem. As we become adept at reading, cards are not always all that important. I personally like to use a random number generator to choose my numbers, but it is not as spiritual or gratifying as using cards, especially those as beautiful as these (although the font—in white and gold--bothered me, at times, but that may be attributed to aging eyes). In summary, the knowledge and talent contained in this deck and book are extraordinary. Like DuHamel’s previous Magdalene Legacy Tarot, that I own, The Illuminati Tarot is well-worth the price and study time.

The book has all the information about the cards and interesting history (I am a major history buff ) & the cards are more beautiful than I expected at all , they are thicker and have great color 🔮 I recommend this to everyone that loves learning the little details & likes beautiful esoteric art

Too slippery too shuffle
Beautiful artwork but a real ordeal to shuffle. The cards are very difficult to shuffle. They are very slippery (and stick together too...if that even makes sense??) I will shuffle the heck out of them and see if that helps break down the plastic coating or whatever it is that is on them. I have a dozen other decks and have never had this issue before. That being said, the card stock is thick and should last a long time. If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it.

The Illuminati Tarot is Brilliant
When I first heard that Casey DuHamel was creating The Magdalene Legacy Tarot – Lost Keys of the Madonna (with Deborah L. Shutek-Jackson), I was so excited. It was so odd that until that point no one had created a “Magdalene” Tarot deck. (There are other decks where Mary Magdalene has been depicted but no deck with Her story.) I immediately placed myself on the waiting list. When I received my book and deck set, I was incredibly impressed with the detail to history, story and the Heart of The Magdalene that was depicted. The cards are beautifully created and THE BOOK! is more than fabulous. Then! I heard Casey DuHamel was creating yet another amazing Tarot deck. This time with the title (that follows suite with The Magdalene Legacy) - The Illuminati Tarot – Keys of Secret Societies. I have been impatiently awaiting its release. I have received my copy and am not disappointed. Here again is Ms. DuHamel’s attention to detail. The history of The Secret Societies entwined with that of Tarot is orchestrated with such deliberation that one wants to just dive into the information. Team that up with the artwork of Bob Greyvenstein and magick truly happens. Each card has been created with such attention to detail that they come to life as you hold them. Schiffer, as the publisher, has created a beautiful presentation with the box and the full color book that comes along with this amazing deck set.The Illuminati Tarot – Keys of Secret Societies is not to be confused with Eric Dunne’s deck “Tarot Illuminati” as they are two totally different entities. Eric’s deck title was inspired as being “illuminating” and has nothing to do with the aspect of Secret Societies and/or The Illuminati. The deck being presented here by Casey DuHamel and Bob Greyvenstein is unique. Again, there is nothing else like it in the Tarot world. If you are lucky enough to have one The Illuminati Tarot – Keys of Secret Societies in your collection – please know you are blessed indeed!Tami Harms (Susanah Magdalena)

Interesting Set!
Good quality Tarot and Book set. The magnetic clasp box is lovely and the card stock is sturdy. I just wish Schiffer would stop making the cards so darn super glossy. The stick together when you shuffle and don't photograph well due to the glare. There is a lot of really interesting information in the companion book for anyone into their occult history, which makes for a good jumping off point for anyone wanting to dive deeper. The esoteric correspondences do not follow the Golden Dawn system, so I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner who is trying to learn those. Once you know a system by heart, adding another can help broaden your view though.

Quality cards and book in a substantial card box.
Large, but not oversized cards, well printed with a glossy finish on good quality card stock. Presented in a substantial card box, the included book is a good size, and likewise well printed and in colour throughout.

Out of the box
Absolutely beautiful Tarot deck and the book is worth the price on its own, yet to read fully but has so much information, I’m new to tarot so will be taking time to familiarise myself with them.
