Poor Quality Control
After working with Amazon (which was great), the seller is sending me a replacement and stated quality control will be improved. I'll post the results on the replacement after I get it.For the initial one: I never got a chance to use it. The wires for connecting to the iPod pulled completely out of the car charger. I noticed the wires had minimal damage and minimal solder on them. I opened up the car charger and there was even less solder and only one strand of wire where they were supposed to be connected. I conclude the soldering was not done correctly. It also seems there should be some tape wrapped around the wires just inside the car charger (or something else) to prevent the wires from pulling through the collar.

Low Quality
This charger works, but is very cheaply made. I have hardly used it and the cord is already pulling away from the plug-in for my phone. It does not charge the phone if the phone is in use. The cord is too short, if I need to answer a call while it's plugged in. It's best use is if I'm driving and do not need the phone at all and it is just laid aside. It has come in handy when it's about dead and now I know I just have to wait for it to charge and not use it in the meantime.

Car charger
it works perfectly fine... shines bright red when plugged in. The quality isn't that good though and the cord is already starting to come off the end. Just lately its started to slip out of the cigarette lighter hole a little so you just need to wiggle it back in. I'm sure there are better ones available and I think I'd buy differently now I know what they are all about.

Double failure
The charger says it is incompatible with my wife's phone (iPhone 3GS) but then charges it anyway, and then keeps producing the error message so often you basically can't use the phone when it's plugged in. With my iPhone 4, it says its incompatible and doesn't charge it at all, period. I chalk this up to another lesson in "you get what you pay for"--but you can avoid the lesson. Spend the money on a better product authorized by Apple and you'll be happier in the end.

Worked once then died, and took the car fuse with it.
I usually go with the cheap stuff when it comes to car chargers. There just isn't that much to go wrong in a simple charger. But this charger did go wrong. I plugged it in once to test it, and it worked fine.A few days later I plugged it in to actually use it, and the indicator light flickered, then stopped glowing. Meanwhile, a slight electrical burning smell was detectable, and that was the end of this charger - yup, it cooked itself. And what's more, the lighter socket is now dead (no doubt the fuse went with the charger). I tested the charger in a different plug, and it is dead in that one also. You might want to shop for a slightly better product.
