A Heartwarming, Thought-Provoking Story
Warning, there will be spoilers. This was a sweet, heartwarming, thought-provoking story. The main character, Ben, is a successful business tycoon. Years ago, he threw away an opportunity to go into the ministry and marry his sweetheart, Wendy. Wendy has since gone into missions, and still sends him her missionary letters. Meanwhile, Ben has amassed great wealth, prestige, and a trophy fiancee who doesn't really love him. One day, he has the opportunity to look at what his life would have been like if he had followed his original calling. It's a sort of Wonderful Life type of experience. He gets to experience life as a husband, father and pastor. He initially resents being thrown into this, and tries to go back to his career (but no one at his place of business knows him in this alternate reality). He eventually comes to love Wendy again, and love the two girls they brought into the world. He becomes a powerful minister for the Lord, and loves that life. But then, it is time for him to go back. None of this was real. Ben fights the return to the life he chose, wanting now to stay with Wendy, and his life of ministry. But he is sent back. While he was in this alternate reality for several weeks, he was only gone from the life he had chosen for a few hours. He is deeply impacted, now right with the Lord. He breaks it off with his fiancee (whose only concern is whether or not he will make her return the engagement ring, which he lets her keep). He resigns from his job, and finds Wendy. Although she is reluctant to forgive or trust him, she ends up coming back to him. The last scene fast forwards 8 years to show that he is the pastor, and that he has the family with Wendy that he saw in the alternate reality. A powerful reminder that our choices take us places, and we need to be aligned with God's will for our lives. As a missionary wife, I related to Wendy, and to the whole concept of being a wife in ministry. A great, deep story and making the right choices, and making things right when you have failed.

Cute Movie based on The Family Man
As the story goes: fifteen years ago, Ben Walker (Kevin Sorbo) left his girlfriend standing at the bus station literally in order to pursue an opportunity. She has a bad feeling about it and asks him not to go. He goes anyway. They apparently never see each other again until . . .He goes on to become a powerful and successful executive. He's engaged to a shallow fiance. After receiving a post card from his old girlfriend about missionary work which he promptly throws out. He goes out to buy a new Mercedes Benz. He suddenly travels into an alternate reality after an airbag explodes and knocks him out. He finds himself in a different life, he is married to his old girlfriend with two daughters. He's also the minister of a church. The story is based on the movie with Nicolas Cage called The Family Man--only it has the faith twist. In the Family Man--Nicolas Cage's angel was Don Cheadle and you can't get better than that. The ending is slightly different and actually a bit better. “What If” is the story of a man whose glimpse into what could have been or what could be.

"It's a Wonderful Life" - In reverse!
What If... is simply "It's A Wonderful Life" in reverse! A charming, warm, but very predictable Christian story, saved by the believability and chemistry of leads Kevin Sorbo and Kristy Swanson, who elevate it far beyond its rather stereotypical 'happy ending.'As a Christian myself, I really don't buy into the 'happy ending' motif, where everything works out perfectly in the end. Christianity, and the Christian life, is seldom one without real struggles, emotional, personal, and spiritual. These things are necessary and what ultimately leads a follower of Christ to a deeper understanding of their need of God and salvation through Jesus Christ His Son. It is even rarer that things work out as perfectly as they seem to do in most Christian-based stories, too. That's where "What If..." punches above its weight. Though still very predictable, it has some genuine moments of epiphany, comedy, and even cynicism, which do not seem "forced" and give it a surprising amount of depth. Again this is mostly due to the genuineness of Mr. Sorbo's and Ms. Swanson's performances, who, together, are very believable as both the materialistic and oblivious Ben Walker (a high-powered corporate executive, who is forced by God into the role of a small-town preacher, husband and father, in order to confront his selfish past and accept the alternate reality he finds himself in, against his will), and his bewildered erstwhile "wife" (the fiancé he ditched fifteen years before when he went off to pursue his materialistic goals in his 'real' life), who is unsure why her husband can't remember her, or the family he never actually had.Indeed, my bride and I both could not help but thoroughly enjoy this movie. We were also very pleased to see the good use made of the ever-reliable John Ratzenberger (Cliff Clavin from the beloved Cheers franchise), playing the would-be angel "Mike," who steals practically every scene he's in. Throw in a good cast of supporting characters and actors, and somehow this movie manages to rise above your typical Christian movie, many of which can often be rather heavy-handed and preachy. This is not. It's simply a fun movie, with a good heart; one that can be enjoyed by everyone and anyone! So, if you haven't done it yet, go buy yourself a copy of “What If…” It's truly worth owning and watching over and over again.

What if
A question we all ask ourselves . Oh to have a second chance and for the movie it changed his life ,and one would say saved his soul.Excellent acting, all where great, loved it, a very heart warming, story, that touches our inner feelings, to think about our actions, before we do them.Gods way or worldy greed?

Money isn't everything.
The headline I just mentioned is put into practical life experiences. Good story behind the gist of the message. You can be happy when you don't rely on earthly things. You can't buy love. Often one finds that the rich can be superficial and unpleasant. I enjoyed viewing the movie on my own; will offer it to others if they show interest.
