Q: Hi, can I have no light on the nightlight and then program it to only come on gradually as I wake? So no light during the majority of the night?

Exactly, it'll start to come on the set amount of time before you set the "alarm". Though normally the slowly brightening light will wake me up before it even gets to the alarm time. Mine gets the most use when I have to get up at 6am for work sometimes and most of the time I'm awake about 10 mins before it goes off. (I set it to gradually get lighter over half an hour since that works the best for me)

Q: Does this turn itself off after a while? (Lumi has the awful habit of plunging you into darkness after 90 minutes, just as you’re ready to get up.)

I don't believe it switches off if you've switched it on, though I'm not sure if I've had it on longer than around 2 hours. If the light has come on as part of your alarm, then it does turn itself off after around 15-20mins I think as I often have to reach over and press the light button to get it back on if I've not quite got up yet :)
