Great specialty item. Great selection from this company
Very nice peice of specialty hardware. I'm a diy'er and I'm using this with solar panels. I also use it as a 'load dump' like all heaters of this type it must be submerged. I don't know if I could run it at full power in non- pressurized water.

problematic
heats water very well, but it welded the thermostat contacts twice. Need to find a thermostqt capable of breaking 20 amp DC current.

Failed within the first five minutes
I planned to use this as a dump load but the heating element failed in under five minutes. I had enough time to capture a picture showing the power flowing into the submerged heating element but it failed shortly after. Disappointing. At least it failed open and didn't short out. I'll try an exchange and update my review if I have a better experience the second time around.
