It is as realistic as it can look for a pool float, but the back top 1/3 of the alligator is covered in white block warnings and written cautions. This takes away from the realistic look and is certainly not as the picture shows in the listing.

Deceptive picture. Item is covered with non-removable safety warnings in 12 languages.
Deceptive picture. Fully 1/3 of the item from the rear legs back is covered in a hokey series of non-removable safety warnings -- see pic. Destroys the whole gator appearance.

Scares away ducks and is a fun toy too!
I bought this because I wanted to keep ducks from using my pool as a toilet. Worked like a charm. I moved it around each day so the ducks wouldn’t catch on that it was a fake. One day I would perch it on the side nearest the spa, another day on the opposite side of the pool, another day in the water. I bought some realistic looking rubber snakes to put out occasionally as well. There are pools in the backyards on both sides of mine, so all I needed to do was make my pool and yard look more dangerous than the neighbors’.Bonus: this float ended up being a favorite toy all summer long. It’s a bit of a struggle to find your balance on it, which made it fun for the kids to play with and challenge each other to stay on. After a full season of use, it began to lose air. I will buy another one for next year.Four stars instead of five because of the large warning label that is printed on the top side of the float. I wish it was on the underside. Whether using this as a fun toy float or a duck decoy, it really detracts from the appearance of the gator to have a large white box with a full paragraph of writing right on the gator’s back. It isn’t visible in any of the marketing photos.

False advertising
Was very disappointed because the picture of the raft online and on the box showed the top of the toy a very realistic free of writing. The actual product has at least one third of the raft with safety information that ruins the look completely!! Please view my picture to see what you are really getting.

It's cute, but it's not a duck deterrent. They may stay away for 2 or 3 days, however, they return. First landing on the pool deck and then eventually getting back into the water. on the 5th day one even climbed up on the gator's back. (wish I had taken a picture to share). So, it may have fooled the ducks at first, but they figured it out. Oh, and it flips over at the slightest wind. I tied fish line and a bottled water under it to it to keep it floating upright.

not what pictured
I bought this for our pool to deter birds while providing something for the grandchildren to play on. This 3 foot alligator arrives with the whole tail OF THE TOP side covered in warnings, do's and don't for use. Got past that thinking "well you probably would not read it if it was on the underside" but then see that the air valves are both ALSO on the top surface where my grandchildren can get scraped by them. TWO of them!!! Not as pictured!! Very disappointed!

Perfect solution for my raccoons in the pool problem!
Ally (gator) as we call it, has done the trick of scaring off raccoons from our backyard and pool. We needed a decoy to keep raccoons from pooping in our pool that has a tanning shelf. Raccoons aren't going anywhere near a gator, and this one is very lifelike (I'm guessing) to a raccoon! Of course, half of the top of the float is covered in legal disclaimers! Not that a raccoon is going to know, but geez, nex thing you know the whole thing will just be covered in disclaimers! For the 10 bucks or so we paid for this, it was the perfect solution to my raccoons in the pool problem!

Have not had a duck land in the swimming pool since this was added...
I keep it in the pool 24 hours a day....grand kids love it...but more importantly, in our absence, it keeps ducks and geese from landing in the pool, and in our back yard. I have tried a $25 motion activated owl, and I have tried the floating balls. But this Gator works the best. So far. Mating season is April and May ...so we shall give it the true duck test next spring.
