Vengeance the Whole Story 1980-84

Best album ever

New Model Army's first Album. Absolutely brilliant - and anyone enjoying NMA should have a copy of this. Whilst it is not my #1 favourite - I 100% recommend it, and still play it regularly. This particular edition includes a whole CD-worth of other early tracks and demos. On the one hand it is great to have these tracks, and e.g. the track called "New Model Army" is really good, the production quality is certainly poorer than the main album, (understandable), but when I play the Album in the car, the software bulks these songs in with the others, so with hindsight I'd have preferred this to be 2 Albums.If you've not got this Album - definitely buy it, and you'll not be disappointed. This band has not been around for 30+ years for nothing, and this is their first - and my argue their best - work !In particular I would suggest that every teenager in the world should compulsorily have to listen to the Falklands Spirit song. Even in the early '80s, NMA were correctly highlighting how media and governments manipulate populations with impunity. Well done NMA!!

Seit meinen New Model Army-Anfängen Ende der 80er Jahre liebe ich das Album "Vengeance" abgöttisch.Die Energie, der Protest, die Leidenschaft, die Justin Sullivan & Co. seinerzeit in ihre Songs steckte, fand ich schon damals einzigartig. Justins Stimme ist eh über jeden Zweifel erhaben, und die harte, aggressive Bassline von NMA-Gründungsmitglied Stuart Morrow hat sich dermaßen in mein Gehör eingebrannt, dass ich noch heute auf Konzerten daran zurückdenke.Nun zu dieser Doppel-CD:Die Aufmachung ist sehr hochwertig. Harter Einband, tolles Layout der Seiten, schöne Bilder aus der Vergangenheit, ein paar Lyrics. ich schließe mich meinem Vorredner an und bedauere, dass dort nicht alle Texte abgedruckt sind. Aber die kann man ja auch auf der offiziellen Army-Homepage nachlesen.Das Album, klar, muss man haben, aber die Bonus-Tracks sind der Hammer! Gleich beim ersten Hören von "Paralysed" oder "Living a Lie" fetzt es so richtig! Schön laut anhören, dann freuen sich auch die Nachbarn. New Model Army brennen hier ein nur so vor Kraft strotzendes Feuerwerk ab, dass nicht zu löschen ist.Die "Vengeance" ist meine persönliche Lieblingsscheibe der Jungs aus Bradford. Nur schade, dass sie auf heutigen Konzerten nur selten was von diesen alten Krachern spielen.Kaufempfehlung? Aber sowas von!!!

Cette superbe édition contient le 1er album ainsi que les tout premiers EP et enregistrements des mythiques New Model Army. Bien loin du Folk-Rock qui les a fait connaitre, ici le trio officie dans une veine Punk tendant vers un Post Punk Goth bien sombre avec déjà cette touche héroïque. On pense à The Cult ou au début de U2 mais déjà la touche du groupe se met en place, même si le groupe n'a pas encore atteins sa maturité (quoique !) l'énergie et les mélodie sont bien là. Bref, le groupe frappe fort dès ces débuts et cette réédition, avec un livret riche en infos, vaut vraiment le coup.
