BrassCraft SH5815 Universal Fit Tub and Shower Lever Faucet Handle, Chrome

I needed something to fit a shower control that we installed in 1997, and this does the job. I couldn't find anything else. The original handle had a plastic insert that eventually broke apart. This seems to be more solid. The only thing I would be careful about is making sure it is on tight, but not so tight you ruin the stem on the mixture control.

It just doesn’t work for my purposes. The center piece with the Allen keys that us supposed to make it universal won’t stay tight. After a few uses it works itself loose and the water won’t come on, or worse, won’t turn off. I had to go grab a screw driver, remove the handle and pull the pieces off all while the water was running. Luckily I still had the old handle in a drawer so I could stick it back on and shut the water off. You can tighten it down all you like but it’s still going to wiggle loose at some point.

Works as advertised

After buying and dealing with the complexity of the famous brand name products for a shower knob, I found a Youtube video that showed this product. I was given the link at Amazon by a viewer. This product has 3 easy to install parts which I installed in a few minutes.. Save the plumber expense. Buy this. Thank you BrassCraft!

Works good, but is a tiny bit loose, even when I have it tightened all the way. But that could be my shower unit, and not the replacement handle. In any case, it is working as it should.

I'll first state the negatives about this handle.It's not mentioned in the description, but this is made for a single handle shower lever. The packaging states it's for 2 or 3 handle designs. Keep it in mindIt does not stay tight as others have mentioned. The vice style clamp just doesn't cut it.The plus is that it is well made. If the clamp worked better and it was totally universal it would work great. But if possible it is best to try to find the manufacturer of your shower cartridge and buyer lever made more specifically for it.

Loved the universal metal attachment, wouldn't fit around our original plastic piece that was stuck on the valve, so took a knife to it to shave it down. After doing that, the universal metal piece with this product was able to fit on and tightened it down and was able to get it to work. Tried several pfister knobs with no avail, but this worked out and looks even better. Would highly recommend if you don't know or can't find a replacement knob with the exact plastic cut out for the back piece.

It's a universal fit item, which usually means it's made to 'sort of' fit everything, but doesn't actually 100% fit any specific application.I had to shorten the screw and use a (not included) spacer under the head of the screw to make this fit my shower. It's hard to turn and squeals because it contacts a part of the diverter that the original handle didn't.I still gave it five stars because it does actually work.
