Terrible sizing.
36 waist. I have a dozen pairs of pants/shorts in 36 that fit like a dream. Including blaklader 1600 work pants. You'd think shorts designed on the pants would be a close match, but easily a size too small.

Well made and tough work shorts
I use the shorts daily, that if I’m not in my Blacklader kilt. I’m a veteran carpenter (67 years old) and find both the shorts and my kilt comfortable to wear while working.

These run large in size.
Buying work shorts is a crap shoot. I ordered some Carhardt shorts in size 33 (my size) and I couldn't fasten the button. Got 34's on exchange and they fit snug. These are sold 32 or 34, no in between, so playing it safe I order 34. I can overlap the front belt line by a full 2 inches meaning I could likely wear the 32 size very comfortably. The seller makes you pay for return shipping. Unless you really know this product and how the sizes run, I suggest not buying this brand.Experimenting using my money will not bring me back to this company ever.

Defective (32" shorts with a 34" tag)
I loved the Blaklader Bantam shorts and long pants that I have and was looking forward to getting another pair of Bantam shorts when mine wore out. Unfortunately, they are no longer made (according to Blaklader), and, even though there were a few leftover sizes available here and there, none in my size (34). I decided to try these Craftsmen X1600 shorts. Strangely, they were the wrong size. Real tight! Not just wrong for me, they actually had a 34 tag on they and when measured laid out with a tape measure (laid flat buttoned up, stretched out and measured on the inside of the waist and multiplied by 2) they were exactly 32". Tried it with a pair if Dickies bought at the same time (16 bucks) and their 34 measured 34". These things were mis tagged at the factory. Sent a memo the the vendor asking if they could manually measure other pairs to find an actual 34" pair and there was no response. Had to return and was charged shipping. Didn't want to take a chance that their 36" might actually be a 34. Who knows what they would be.....I hate buying clothes on line but who has these kinds of specialty things at stores anymore....thanks to amazon, there wont' be any more stores pretty soon....
