CaldwellAR500 Auto Reset Targets with 3/8 Inch Thickness and Interactive Design for Shooting, Plinking, and Practice

I bought two steel target setups for shooting and this one was the only one I would buy again. It gives great feedback on hits but obvious don’t expect it to drop all the way down before resetting.

Not very wide make sure to read measurements. Took 308 12g slugs 300 blkout 7.62x39 223 no problem and no marks

This “Caldwell AR500 Auto Reset Targets with 3/8 Inch Thickness and Interactive Design for Shooting, Plinking, and Practice (Pepper Popper)” is awesome! It is made with AR500 steel, hence, it is rated for “large” rifle and pistol calibers, not just for 22LR like many other steel targets out there. This one is rated for 223/556 or 308/762 rifle rounds, as well as 9mm/.45 or even 44REM Mag pistol rounds. I had been using this for a while now, and it is basically my favorite rifle target. This is a 1/3 sized “pepper popper”, that has a 4in center and a 2in “head”; at 100yds, this represent a 2MOA “head” and a 4MOA “center”, so this is a good size for 100yds rifle shooting. And it is also quite perfect for 200yds, scoped precision shooting, as the “head” will be at 1MOA (2in at 200yd), and the “center” will be at 2MOA(4in at 200yd), with the full “body” that you can potentially even spot your “drop”. For this price, under $100, I think it is a great investment. It would be nice to have a few of these, and place them at various distances between 100yds to 200yds or beyond (which will be challenging, but fun).Thank you for reading this review, I hope that this review is helpful to you in support of your purchase decision.

Does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

These targets are really good. They are super sturdy and spring right back for continued usage on the range. I have had them for a long time and the quality is still up to par. Do not hesitate to order.

Family and friends love to come out to shoot on our rural property. We get our targets pretty worn and sometimes folded and hard to keep on hay bales. This has been a better solution with no work and super fun to shoot at. Just apply target stickers as they get worn from the shot. My husband shot with his Benelli deer rifle and did not dent it. But mostly for the kids to shoot my .22 Ruger 10/22 and have fun.

I wasn't quite sure what this target was when I first saw it on Amazon. But after reading the product description, I decided to order it to use with my pellet rifle and BB guns. I'm going to set this up in my back yard and use it for my own practice so that I don't have to keep buying paper targets. I realize that this target is meant for use with real guns, primarily rifles. Since it's strong enough to withstand the impact from hundreds of real bullets, my pellet rifle and BB guns probably won't even scratch it. This target might seem expensive, but it's a quality piece of hardware that will last for many years. I highly recommend it.

The heavy-duty rifle and pistol target is great for plinking! With a resounding ping, bullets bounce off and the prairie dog bends over and then springs back, ready for the next round. The unit comes in a heavy-duty box with the four legs, base, prairie dog and tight spring. All metal parts are 3/8" metal and powder coated for long lasting enjoyment. It takes four bolts to assemble the legs (note nuts are metric but bolts are not). Then wrangle the prairie dog to the base using the remaining large bolt while compressing the bounce-back spring. It might take some finagling to get the bolt through the holes with the spring compressed. Then tighten the bolt and you are ready to shoot!Setup three or four at different distances and play a round of wack-a-mole!
