Q: Can this be left on the pool cover with freezing temperatures (ice formation)? We live in Connecticut and the water on the cover will freeze!

I’ve. Used it in Memphis TN weather and it works in our winter when it freezes with no issues.

Q: Can you place unit on top of a dry cover, plug in, and if it rains, unit will pump out water automatically?

According to the description, you can heave it on a dry cover. Once rain water gets to 2 inches it will turn on and than off when the water level drops to a certain point (1/5 “ +/-). I left mine on the cover after draining, however, it did not rain prior to removing the cover.
