AT LAST!!!!... Something that works
I have been so frustrated by the many Chinese Sega Dreamcast HDMI connectors... They are iffy, require you to stand on one leg, eyes closed and recite the alphabet in reverse. I'm sick of reading seller ads telling you to simply replace the 5v fuse... I'm sick of reading users review that say "This product works great".. and it doesn't for me :-( First of all, there are at least 3 DIFFERENT PCB's for the Dreamcast that I know of. The placement of the fuse is somewhat similar but it's a surface mount fuse and requires taking your Dreamcast to pieces and have a skill of replacing surface mounts components. I HAVE that skill but none the less, I had limited success mixed with lots of frustration getting any of these HDMI connectors to work for me continuously. Here's my take on the problem. These Chinese units all fail for the same reason.... they REQUIRE a 5v supplied by the Dreamcast to work. 15+ years ago they sold the same connects but they came with a separate 5v PSU... THOSE WORKED!!!. The latest and great iterations are cheaper to manufacture and sell and require the planets be aligned. Had any of the units I purchased had a separate 5v supply, I am confident would have worked. However, the sellers answers are... "simply replace the 5v fuse"... but not telling you that you may still have issues. So out of desperation I bought this Dreamcast VGA cable. I already owned a 5v Powered VGA to HDMI adapter from some 15 years ago... never used, still in the box and took the gamble. I plugged the VGA cable into a VGA monitor (no 5v power adapter or anything else...) It WORKED!!! I had great 480 resolution graphics. Brilliant. I then plugged the VGA cable into the Powered VGA to HDMI adapter and it worked on a HDMI monitor. Then plugged it into the HDMI port of my large screen 4K TV purchased just a couple of years ago... it worked!!!! My setup isn't 100% perfect because I have a small number of games (E.g. HydroThunder) which won't work with the VGA and so I have to switch the cable manually with either my Dreamcast Composite to HDMI adapter or the Dreamcast VGA to HDMI Adapter . I DID try one of those Chinese units that has the 720p/1080p switch and the Composite/VGA switch. They say you don't have to change cables (but you DO have to reach behind your Dreamcast to switch it over... but after an hours trying only got it to show VGA ONE time.... I couldn't recall all the steps of the sequence that finally got it working and ended up sending it back. So I have to change the Dreamcast output plug to change change between Composite (240 lines) and VGA (480) games (most games are VGA) but I'm tested this over 2 hours switching the TV between other devices, powering off, powering on blah, blah and it consistently works. THAT makes this worth every cent in my book and I'll live with the manual intervention which by the way is only slightly more cumbersome that struggling to find that darn switch... Why don't them make powered boxes anymore and why do they insist on the new gizmo's being plugged directly into the Dreamcast (not cabled to the Dreamcast) which means they stick out the back out of reach... what wrong with cables... Sorry... the frustration of other so called easier Dreamcast solutions has exceeded my limit... This VGA cable... PLUS a powered VGA to HDMI convertor works, consistently, every time... Worth every cent. Now I can enjoy playing the Sega again and seeing games played in 480p. The VGA output from the Sega is AWESOME. It was way ahead of its time and I have a huge collection of games I invested in back then which I can now enjoy again... :-)

Long live the Dreamcast! Still my favorite system of all time.
I'm in a state of shock right now. I saw this on Amazon and figured I'd take a chance, because I noticed my main LG TV upstairs had an input for VGA, which apparently is the "true" way to play Dreamcast, as it was the only console in that generation to be able to output in VGA, which is its native resolution. I hooked it up and it worked immediately. You WILL need a male-to-male 1/8 in. audio cable to hook the yellow audio part to the TV as well. The picture and audio are both crystal clear on this TV. Huge difference. I'm finally playing the Dreamcast correctly on a modern TV 25 years later. I immediately knew it worked just my looking at the letters and numbers on the main menu, ha!

Works and looks great
I sold my old vga box and replaced it with this. The old vga box had noticeable vertical bars. With this cable, the vertical bars are practically gone. YouTube videos shows that this cable is similar to the more expensive vga boxes, the color is a little on the warm side but I prefer it that way. I paired it with a cheap VGA to HDMI converter, I didn't want to deal with the washed out colors some of these all in one solutions give and I didn't want to pay too much money, especially since I already had a VGA to HDMI adapter. I also would like the option to plug this in an OSSC in the future. The cheap adapter I use is a cheap $10 ebay one and it works okay. For both the old vga box and this cable I have to disconnect the usb cable from the adapter and reconnect it a couple of times to get an image. I don't think it's the cable's fault, you might have better luck witha different adapter. The one I have is a really small and compact one. I see some people have an actual box with a power cord. I also used the vga box previously on vga enabled screens and the vertical bars were there as well so I know it wasn't the adapter's fault. In other words, this is an excellent product for the price I paid.

Would've been 5 star if they added male to male 3.5 audio cable
Amazing cable for Dreamcast! Works out of the box (given that you have male to male 3.5 jack audio cable). Connecting to the console and TV/monitor (or upscalers) should be as easy as 1, 2, 3. The picture is amazing! HDMI adapters have nothing on it. The only thing - you have to make sure that your games are compatible with the cable! But these days people either burn modded games or use gdemu - a lot of games already have the VGA mod, so you should be fine. Would've given 5 star, but they don't supply audio cable to it (raise the price for a couple of dollars and add the cable!). Gladly, I had one laying around

Works fantastic with early 2000’s CRT monitor!
Product worked as described and provided all necessary components! If you want a PURE, crisp image from your DC, the way nature intended, buy THIS cable and connect it to an old CRT monitor from the late 90’s/early 2000’s. It’s honestly breathtaking how good your games will look! If your goal is to get the DC to display on a modern screen, go buy an hdmi adapter.

Exactly what it should be for a great price
I use this to hook up to a retrotink 4k and the picture is immaculate. As far as I can see there is no signal noise and does its job well. The left and right audio channels are correct as well.

wow !!!
how did I go with out a VGA hook-up for so long ??!! this thing is well worth the 15 dollars , I cant get over how much better the picture quality is ! before this I was using a RCA to HDMI converter, and it just didn't look right, and the picture was a little fuzzy. as for the product quality, it seems to be nicely made and have had no problems with it on my hannspree HSG1102. it fits snugly into my dreamcast and has had no issues, I used a 3.5 mm audio cord just because I had one laying around, I do wish that they would of marked the audio adapter for L and R sound, but that is my only complaint. do yourself a favor and get the VGA cord if you have a dreamcast.

So I have both a Dreamcast and an Open Source Scan Converter so I was looking for the optimal alternative to the often out of stock Toro by the Bahar Brothers in Turkey. This cable for the Dreamcast is a really amazing deal if you already own the OSSC. At a mere $30ish you get a crystal quality digital image and stereo sound. I emphasize those two things because the other cable I tried from Tomee DID NOT work and was not wired correctly. It only gave me mono audio (can you believe it? How incompetent can you get) and a flashing display. This cable on the other hand outputs a brilliant bright colour rich picture, sharp as can be... also am happy to report no jail bars. Cable seems thick and well shielded. Gotta say I'm happy with this big time. Thanks to whoever manufactured it. You know what you're doing!

Really really good quality, using it with my PAL dreamcast, along with 4k LG OLED TV and the OSSC (Open source scan line converter)
