Worked for my need
I hooked this up to my Raspberry Pi, popped in my Astro Touch Box micro SD card & it works like a charm! No need to mess with settings, as the software is already configured for this screen. Very Happy Camper.

Does not work in my situation RPi 4 trying Kali Linux.
I bought this because it is advertised as working with Kali Linux. I tried to get it working on an RPi 4 with no luck. I tried two approaches. (1) The first was to go through the Kali Linux terminal using the "Kalipi-tft-config" method and select the Waveshare 3.5(b) option. I verified I have a (b) version 2.0. This approach did not work and it would not boot up properly. I also tried to have it update the display prior to the reboot. I also tried it on 32 bit and 64 bit. None of that got the desired results. (2) The second approach was to use the method on waveshare.com/wiki for the 3.5B V2 and I could not get that to work either. I tried it on 32 bit and 64-bit versions on Kali. I then went to look for an image file on their site and the only image file they have is Raspberry OS and not Kali Linux. What I want is 64 bit Kali Linux with the waveshare 3.5(b) V2 tft lcd screen to be properly supported. It's not. Don't waste your money.

The right idea ... but only 4 FPS???
What should be a fantastic device is hobbled by the flaw that out-of-the-box the display when connected to a Raspberry Pi Zero W is only capable of displaying 4 frames per second, or so. Adding insult to injury, there's not much documentation about how to manage this limitation. I spent a few hours on 3rd party forums discussing this exact screen. Most of the discussions revolved around editing obscure settings in the boot config.txt file so trade off color depth for speed. There was plenty of confusion about what each setting specifically achieved. Unfortunately, none of the answers worked well for my screen. The screen is bright and beautiful. Too bad it's not usable.

Not for retropie
It's a great screen. Colors are great. If you're not using it for retropie this screen night suit your needs. With retropie there is screen lag and tearing present with the waveshare drivers. I tried using juj fbcp-ili9341drivers and the colors were off but there was no lag. I'm purchasing the 3.2" to see if the problem persists
