A great deal for the price.
I can understand giving the Nextbook Ares 8 only 3 stars if you paid full retail - around $90 to over $110 (advertised price). It isn't an Apple IPAD, for sure. But my Ares only cost $40 including shipping, and I couldn't be happier. You need to take advantage of the option to add unlimited memory in the form of SDmicro flash memory chips. I download everything that doesn't have to go on internal memory onto 16 and 32 GB chips with no loss of speed. (You need to buy class 10 at least. They're dirt cheap: 32gb for $12!)The Ares has a beautiful HD screen and there are literally hundreds of free or almost so Android apps. I've had mine for almost a year with no trouble at all. Processor is fast and powerful.Get a good case and screen protectors, and don't go cheap on the ear buds or headphones. Quality makes all the difference.

I'll keep it since it only cost $50 at the time.
It works but it is slower than the specs promise. I have other small tablets by other makers. Older Samsungs are smoother and faster. The start up boot can take over a minute. The WiFi appears to be 2.4 Ghz only. The OS keeps complaining about the 16 GB micro SD. (asking to format over and over).

Won't find better for the money.
The grandkids kept taking my phone to play on. Got them this to play with instead. It's held up well and they've been able to play all the games they want on it. Now I have to get another one to keep them from fighting over it.

Ok for the price
The ares 8 tablet arrived on time and undamaged. Considering it only cost 60 bucks here are my honest facts about this tablet. The ares 8 tablet has a very nice build and look to it the tablet is sturdy and slim and very lightweight it doesn't look like one of those cheap plastic tablets. The tablet started right up booties right up out of the box I was able to get on the internet via Wi-Fi in about 5 minutes also I turned on Bluetooth and paired it with my Bluetooth speakers and it works great the picture quality is pretty good bright and clear and colorful no washed-out look okay here's where the problems come in the response on the touchpad screen is really bad you have to hit icons two three four or five times going to work also the tablet runs pretty fast except if you have several tabs open in the background it runs really really slow so you have to watch that the volume on the external speaker is not too great it doesn't go up very loud but that's okay you use your headphones or your Bluetooth and that's great it has two cameras that are two great one is a two megapixel and the other is a 3-megapixel but that's okay because I don't think too many people use these tablets as cameras nor do I finally the battery life on the tablet is kind of lousy I only get about 3 hours of tablet time and it takes a long time to recharge about 6 hours I guess I can put up with most of these problems but the slow response time on the touchpad is a real pain in the neck and a real game killer I don't know I might have to return tablet this will be the fourth tablet I've had to return to Amazon oh well you really do get what you pay for

I Would Not Recommend
I wasn't too happy with this. it was way too slow. it took forever to do anything. I don't recommend this if you want something that goes fast. The price was amazing but i guess you get what you pay for.
