Very solid, serious servo
You can feel the quality of this servo taking it out the box. It's definitely not junk. It's a serious micro servo.I did have to do some modifications to make it fit in my HPI Mini Recon. Specifically grinding down the inside of the screw posts on the bracket that hold the servo in place. Otherwise the bracket bowed, making it impossible to line up the screw holes on the bottom of the chassis. The HS-65MG is ever so slightly wider (when laid on it's side) than the stock one. Also the servo saver was very hard to press onto the gear of this servo since the stock one is plastic and the HS-65MG is metal. I just forced it on though, it didn't hurt this Hitec servo. At first I tried servo taping it. It had so much torque it twisted even with Parma servo tape...Now that it's mounted properly it steers the truck way better than the stock one did. Plus I'm not worried about it failing like the stock one. Definitely worth it.

It was a little too light duty for my use, but I have had good experiences with other Hitec servos.

6 of 8 servos do not work, But at least the Manufacturer and Amazon are trying to make it right.
Update - it turns out the problem was in the receiver and not the servos. The radio was attempting to use the wrong resolution because it did not bind correctly with the receiver. Once I changed out the receiver, problem solved. I purchased a batch of receivers that all had the same problem so it was hard to figure it out as every one of them did the same thing.update - Amazon is making this right by issuing a refund and mailing label. My faith in good business practices is being restored. It is still possible that there are other reasons I am having this problem and I am investigating the possibility but hooray for Amazon and Hitec. Once this works itself out I will raise the stars in my review. It has been a bit of a pain but at least I will not be out any money.Update - I have contacted Hitec directly and they appear to be standing behind their product but I still am not able to return them to Amazon as would be the preferred thing to do. At least things are getting better when compared to losing 130 dollars. Perhaps more updates to come, including a mea culpa if anything I have said here turns out to be inaccurate.I am blown away that 6 of the 8 servos I ordered vibrate excessively, stick in position, and are slow to center. I am not sure if these are counterfeit or what because the other Hitec servos I have purchased were amazing and totally worth the money.I went to return them and Amazon tells me I am outside the window for returns so I have been ripped off for about 130 dollars. Hopefully this review will spur some action and I will remove it if that happens but fair warning to all - something here stinks as there is no way I should have received even one bad servo much less 6 of 8.

On my second one...
I used this to replace the reverse servo in my Traxxas RC Nitro 3.3 truck. Works great. It A LOT of forward and reversing before this one went south. Very happy with it!

Awesome Servo
The Hitec HS65MG is my go-to servo for all of my planes 42" to 48" wingspan. I fly pretty brutal 3D with my planes to the servos get extreme use. The HS-65MG centers well, is very precise, and the gears NEVER strip. I've stripped gears on the HB version, but the metal gears in the MGs survive anything, even high energy crashes (grin).Light, high torque, rugged as a tank. What more could you ask for?

Lasted 3.5 months ... disappointing
I bought this to replace the stock servo for a LaTrax SST for some pretty standard driving. It burned out last month driving on some semi-rough terrain - no cranking the steering in rock crevices trying to crawl. I was surprised and disappointed that this happened because I thought upgrading to a metal gear servo would last years.

It's a great servo
I got these because after a plane crash all of my nylon geared servos got stripped and stopped working. I have been very pleased, sadly there was another crash (a really bad one) the arduino that I was using to control the plane failed mid flight and my plane hit a pole at full speed. HOWEVER! The servos are fine, in fact they are probably overkill for my needs, but at least I don't have to replace them again. Buy nice or buy twice, that has proven true in this case for me.

Working great in my 39" foamy
Built these into a foamy and they are working very well. Leads are a little short but though.
