When art imitates real life or the opposite??
What else can be said about one of the most influential manga to anime stories, ever? Other than awesome to have all three together in one edition!!With this edition. You have the original story that led to inspiring and thought provoking "Ghost in the Shell" anime. Which Im going to guess everyone here knows what the original inspiration was for this "Ghost in the Shell" manga. Then in turn what the anime inspired.Of course it has the original manga versions of my other two favorite anime movies, "Ghost in the Shell: SAC. The Laughing Man" and series/movie. "Ghost in the Shell: SAC. The Solid State Society."As always with any adaption. There are "Major" differences between, this the source material and the anime series/movies. (Sorry. Couldn’t help it) Yes, including the much maligned Scarlett Johansson movie version. But as a fan I truly enjoy each one for thier respective stories, creativity and how each one can "Stand Alone". (Couldn't help it, again)If you love mangas this is a must own. If you are a fan of the "Ghost in the Shell" anime movies or series. This is also a must have.Lastly, if you have ever gone to Tokyo and gone to Shibuya Crossing, Shinjuku, Akihabara? Seen Tokyo Bay and the water taxies criss-crossing it? Even walking around the city after reading this manga?Did you have a feeling of "Deja-vu"? (sorry! lol!)Well. You are not alone...

Great Read
This Manga was a great read all the way to the end. It does get bit confusing on the 3rd book in it but is still entertaining. The hardcover was nice as well making perfect in the collection. I recommend it to anyone looking for a classic manga style and is into futuristic scfi.

Censored by the author yes, but still good
I enjoy Shirow's work, but I've noticed comments about censorship in the 2023 3-in-1 book. Some reviewers say changes were made against the creator's wishes or for Western audiences. However, an article from bleedingcool.com states that Kodansha, the Japanese publisher, confirmed that Masamune Shirow requested these changes. He provided redrawn pages for the deluxe Complete Box Set in 2017, which are also included in the 2023 3-in-1 Hardcover. The revisions were made at the author's request, so you'll need an older print version if you want the original pages. I also include a difference on one page. The pages are flipped like in the 2017 version, and the paper has a slight bleed. Overall, it feels acceptable compared to other books with higher-quality paper.

Hefty tome, but not the best print quality you can get.
If you have money to spare, better buy the original books separately. Feels they are not using the best quality ink/paper.This product is practical (if you have strong hands to hold it) but not exactly luxurious. Also, Amazon packed it poorly, very little padding. 2 corners were somewhat damaged. Not critical, but still.

Well put together.
I haven't read the whole book, just skimmed it as it just arrived recently. It's in english, with the translation seemingly appropriate and a lot of useful translation notes in the margins to give very useful context. The art is sharp, with there being very distinct style changes between the 3 main sections (utilizing different artists, I imagine). Lots of fanservice in the art, skimpy clothing, bare nudity etc. but I didn't scout any sexual interaction but knowing the little about the series I do, I expect there to be some. Probably a PG-13 or higher rating. The cover on the amazon listing is the actual cover and looks very nice. The book is indeed hardcover, solidly put togetherand sturdy. For some unknown reason my book came packaged inside an unsealed ziploc bag that was slightly too small for it (all of this was further packed inside plastic amazon packaging of course). Very strange. Also it's a manga... in manga format.... so it will be read from right to left, with the cover on the right hand side.

Good art, neat to follow the stories I've seen from other versions as they were originally written.
Really it's all in the title. I see the plot beats that were later used in the movies and TV series, with extra little bits added in. The notes in the margins were a little bit fine for me to read easily, but it's cool that they're there. Gorgeous art, too. The extra jokes and added details about Motoko and her crew really stands out and balances the tone of the story, compared to the rather more serious (in my opinion) movie and Stand Alone Complex.
