Correct Adapter for Mid 2012 Macbook Air 13"
This was purchased to replace the old stock Apple Mac Air 128gb SSD. It was replaced with a new WD Blue 510 M.2 SSD. Make sure your replacement SSDs are SATA, not PCIe M.2 drives for this specific model Mac Air. The adapter came in an easy to open packaging with appropriate screw driver and one screw. The screw is used to attach the new drive to the adapter. Use the old Apple screw to attach the whole assembly to the mainboard of the Mac Air. With the selected SSD, everything fit perfectly, and there was no notice of over heating and the bottom cover closed without issue. Perhaps it was because of the new drive or additional space, there was a noticeable speed increase over the OEM drive. This was selected over the OWC brand direct replacement drive because this solution was cheaper, and the replacement SSD has a better reliability track record and longer warranty. Be sure to run the terminal command 'sudo trimforce enable' to enable OS X native trim support, and you should be good to go. Worked great with OS X Catalina. When installing Catalina though, make sure you step up to it (i.e. install the previous version of OS X then upgrade) if you have never installed Catalina before, because there are some firmware updates that don't install correctly sometimes when you directly install Catalina for the first time ever on the Mac Air.

Working perfectly in a 13 inch MacBook Air 2012 paired with a 500GB WD M.2 SATA drive
I bought this for a 13 inch MacBook Air 2012 (A1466) with 128GB stock. Paired it with a 500GB Western Digital M.2 SSD (SATA B+M), remember that this and similar SATA M.2 are the only ones compatible as nvme are NOT going to work. Easy install, all you need is a P5 pentalobe screwdriver to open the back, the adapter includes the little screw for the SSD. I was a little concerned that the SSD attached to the adapter is “taller” than the original drive that I was replacing but when placing the MacBook back cover back on its place, everything was ok.When starting up the Mac the new drive was detected, all I had to do is format it and restore the OS. Once that was done and after I completed the setup, only thing left was to enable TRIM for the SSD and done. I’ve been using it everyday and so far no problems at all.
