formatted like Instagram posts and I mean that in the best way possible
I use these books when I am teaching web design intro classes. They are very much formatted like an Instagram post and I mean that in the best way possible. Clear and direct examples of individual concepts and whatever newly introduced syntax is coming in. Plus, the companion site is still up and has solid examples. These are a good first step for someone just jumping in who might not want to wade through the human trash that is on online forums.

These are competent instructional guides
I have a project that will demand plenty of skill and access to solutions. So, I thought I would brush up on changes in the latest versions of PHP and MySQL which I am running on my server. This book was current, from Wiley, and inexpensive when bundled with companion volumes on HTML and CSS, JavaScript and jQuery. Those additional volumes were older, but great guides to starting out. The book is well laid out in sizable chunks of associated information. It's a great review of and catch up on PHP and MySQL , and I'm looking forward to getting deeper into the project.

Beautiful overview of how to build websites
Pros: visually interesting, good summary of core concepts, very easy to read and hard to put down. In short good primer book set to learning about in's and outs of web development.Con(s): Tech is always changing so exact frameworks in the book may not be up to date with what's popular at time of purchase. Check edition for more info before buying.

A great introduction book if you are studying
I love how graphical the books are. Design helps me to use it as a reference guide when I need to check on something.

A terrific resource for any programmer
I keep this set of three books on my desk for easy access, since I often reach for them to use as reference guides. An excellent compendium of valuable information.

Pages fall out after first use
The books look nice, modern. But the content is dated (2011) and the books were bound with cheap glue or maybe the glue is so old, but if you open the book at any given page too far it splits away from the spine.Anyone looking for books on full stack web development in 2025 should be looking for a set that has a backend book on more modern architectures that use Node.js / Mongo not PHP / MySQL.
