CISSP Exam Prep Questions, Answers & Explanations: 1000+ CISSP Practice Questions with Detailed Solutions

I purchased this book because there is not a lot of material available for the updated CISSP exam for 2015. This seems to be a good resource, but the reason I marked it three stars is because it does not have any references (as previously stated by other reviewers), so without doing extra research into the answers you can't really be sure you are on the right track. The CISSP exam has questions that come from what is referred to as a common body of knowledge, so the test taker is tasked with finding out where this CBK exists. Even in exam prep material that is sourced, there is a bit of circular reference (eg., I cite my friend's book and he cites mine). What makes some of the others different is that they are part of the (ISC)2 club, or a SANS instructor, or under some other sponsoring organization that would generally be included in the (ISC)2 CBK. Even if you go to the sponsoring Website for this book it does not say it is sanctioned by the (ISC)2 organization, or any organization except itself.Now that my disclaimer is out of the way, I will say that I think this book helped me in passing the test. The questions were worded in a fashion that I was able to keep my concentration while taking a lot of practice tests. I only added this book to my arsenal of study materials yesterday morning and I took the test this morning, so I did not have a lot of time to read poorly worded or lengthy questions. This book did the trick.I used this book (last-minute) along with the CISSP Study Guide (old test) by Eric Conrad, 11th Hour CISSP (also Eric Conrad, condensed version of the former book), and some web articles. I also recently studied for and passed my COMPTIA Security+ exam, so I was already in the information security mood.After having read how much new content there was on the test, I decided to get this book as a last-minute study aid. So I took about 10 hours worth of practice tests from this book (I only got through about half of them) and then had to take the test the following day. I passed, and I think this book did make a difference.I will end with this - if there were more available material that covered the new test, I would likely have not purchased this book because of lack of creds. But I was self-sponsored for my test, and the low cost of this book was worth it compared to how expensive it would have been to fail the test. In the end, I did not read every question in this book because I ran out of time, and I did not have time to research questions that I had a problem with. And then I still passed the exam. This book helped with that.Happy studying!

This book was extremely helpful for getting into the ISC2 mindset. It doesn't matter what the real-world answer is. On the CISSP exam, you only need to understand and select the "right" as defined by ISC2. I read one consolidated study guide cover to cover, and referred to another study guide to research questions not in the first study guide. I then used this book almost exclusively to drill on test questions. When I missed one, I went back and researched the answer in my study guides, and I read the explanation in this book of why it was the "right" ISC2 answer.This book is well-organized. It alternates domain specific drills with broader cross-domain quizes that tie concepts together, and offers brief explanations for each answer. Some of the questions in this guide are repetitive, and the "duh" factor is high for certain topics. But repetition is EXTREMELY helpful, because when you are in the exam room and the clock is ticking, you won't have to THINK about why an answer might be "a" or "b", you will have seen the question before, and you will confidently recognize the "right" answer as defined by ISC2. This study guide won't help you much with scenario questions, but it will help with all the rest. (For scenario questions, check out that big fat red and gold study guide and its companion test question book.)I found a few questions in the book were badly worded, and some answers were flat-out wrong in the real world. The value of this book is to prepare you for a test with badly written questions, where the only "right" answers are defined by ISC2 and may not reflect modern technology or the real world. Suspend reality, drill the questions, research the answers. Until you pass the exam, put your energy into drilling, take a deep breath, and understand that the only "right" answers on the exam will be those selected by ISC2, regardless of what you do in the real world.Bottom line - this book helped me pass the exam on the first try. I have since shared my copy with several colleagues who are studying for the exam, or who have now taken and passed the exam.

The practice exams are not a completely accurate representation of the actual exam. I would say just less than half of these practice questions are similar. However, if you complete 75% of the book (like I did), I think you have a good shot at memorizing and associating the key words that you will see on the actual exam.There were a few mistakes here and there. Like, choosing A,B,C, or B....or Choice 'A' is 'Both A and B'.There were a few questions that I did not agree with the answer and another book directly contradicted.When I started the book, I was averaging 60% on the "Lite" exams. By the time I took the actual exam, I was averaging 85%. I passed the CISSP, but of course they don't tell you your score.I have been studying on and off for the past few months, but I bought this book after scheduling the exam 2 weeks out. I am not sure how much time I spent with this book, but I know I did nearly all of the 40 question "Lite" exams. My strategy was to look at the correct answer after each time I picked my response. This way, if I was wrong, I could correct myself immediately and not go through the rest of the exam with an incorrect presumption in my mind.I am certain this book helped me pass the exam more than any other material I used.

Good book, unfortunately this test exams will not help anyone pass the CISSP exam which is really based on trick questions and that is from my personal experience.

Good for starters. Delivered on time

I have made negative review about this book before taking CISSP. After taking CISSP i have nothing bad to say about this book and the questions. Some might argue poorly worded questions but i think you need that to be prepared for CISSP.

J'ai utilisé ce livre ainsi que 2 autres pour faire des exams blancs, et cela m'a bien aidé à décrocher le CISSP. Ce n'est pas parfait, il y a beaucoup de questions de bachotage et pas assez de réflexion (en comparaison avec ce que j'ai eu à l'examen), mais ça reste très correct.
