Add reality to your gas log fire.
My gas log fire functioned well but the small line of flames below the front log did not produce the "glowing ember" look that was promised. Once I placed the MEECO'S RED DEVIL 585 Glowing Embers directly above the small flames where the flames could contact the small fibers I got the effect I wanted. The glowing embers are visible even up to 15 feet away and added greatly to the realism of the gas log fire. I am pleased with the product and the quantity supplied is very generous.

Pretty simple stuff, works good!
We have a gas insert fireplace in the house. I dimly remembered someone saying that it was necessary to replace embers. Ordered this product, came to discover that almost all the embers were burned up in my insert. There is tons of material here, enough for more than 5 applications. The flames now look neat again with the glowing simulation of real coals. Buy a bag, and look in your insert. Make sure you check the position of the logs so you know how to put them back properly after adding ember.

Love these embers in a gas fireplace, but warning, it is a LOT of material for 1 fireplace.
First off these worked great. The gas fireplace really glows now with all the embers this put in. It looks and feels a little like steel wool, only softer. They glow instantly when a flame is on them, then go back. The material is not sticky, but will "stick" to your gas fireplace logs so they can glow wherever a flame hits. One thing though, this bag is HUGE. More then enough to replace 3 or 4 fireplaces, or you can load up more then you need building some cool fire designs. Fun to play around with. Worth the purchase.

Looks great and plenty for multiple fireplaces!
We bought a place with a gas fireplace and the embers were all but gone. These look great and were easy to put in and around the gas pipe in the fireplace. It's been about 4 months and we probably need to put a few more on from where these have burned down/gotten blown around but no complaints at all! This box is PLENTY to do a fireplace and then some!

Love the glow, but short lived. Needs frequent replacing.
UPDATE and Re-rating from 5 stars to 3. I've had these embers in place for just over a month now and for the first few weeks they looked fantastic. I use my fireplace ( vented, medium gas flow) a few hours nearly everyday in the Fall and Winter. After about three weeks of use, these embers started to lose their glow and the material appeared to be breaking down. After a month, they have definitely deteriorated and need replacing already...The large size bag won't last long replacing the embers monthly. My fireplace also already has a heavy white film buildup on the glass, which normally takes months of use before becoming an issue. Upon inspecting these embers to replace with fresh, I found that the embers were indeed breaking down and beginning to clog and block the gas ports. When new, these embers do have a beautiful glow, but I expected to only have to replace them seasonally. I'm going to try using larger Platinum embers pieces as a base and then add these glowing embers to see if I can get longer use before having to replace so often. I will most likely not purchase this product again as it is not performing any better than cheaper rock wool. OLD Review: Replaced an ember product that was unattractive with Meeco's Red Devil Glowing Embers and what a difference it made. I placed them in very small pieces, torn with a frayed looked, placed them with long tweezers, building them up around, but not covering, the gas line holes and lit the fireplace. Such a beautiful glow! The twinkle and glow looks like real embers but without the mess. The amount in the box is probably enough for twenty years of replacing. It gave my gas fireplace a warm cozy realist feel. I couldn't be more pleased with these embers.

Looks real
This looks great. I didn't give it high marks for value, because the materials, vermiculite and rockwool, are cheap and readily available in bulk. But who wants or needs them in bulk if you're doing one fireplace?

Works Great
Works as it should, a combination of two main components packed in a plastic bag. Sprinkle it liberally under your gas fireplace logs, turn on the fireplace, and watch as this material glows and sparkles similar to embers under burning logs in a real fireplace. Plenty of material in this baggie for the biggest gas fireplace, or, in my case, enough for refreshes in the future.
