This movie is perfect for a viewer that likes a gritty movie
I originally saw this on laserdisc. There is some starpower in this movie. This movie is perfect for a viewer that likes a gritty movie. This movie also analyzes how people react to greed. Will Sadler and Bill Paxton are fire fighters that arrive in east St. Louis looking for treasure. There at the location some gang members including Ice T and Ice Cube arrive to conduct business. There is an altercation between the two groups and a homeless man as well. In the movie there is much greed and a person or two pay dearly for their obsession with gold. There are a few twists that I don't want to ruin. I don't discuss spoilers on purpose. I don't see the point of watching a movie or reading a book. If you do like that there are other reviewers and other sources that can give you that.I do like the ending. All the characters whether well known or not act very well and in character. There is a lot of story and the benefit of currently being on sale a huge windfall for me.

A great cast in a movie that didn't age well.
Two white firefighters (Paxton and Sadler) learn about a stash of stolen treasure (looted from a church) in East St. Louis. They run afoul of a painfully stereotypical gang led by Ice-T. Things go from bad to worse as the tension escalates. The firefighters can't find the gold. A homeless man becomes a hostage. Ice-Cube vies for control of the gang. Cops drive up. Fire breaks out. etc. Writer/Director Walter Hill's idea is good: it's the Treasure of the Sierra Madres set in the city. The actors are all good, but there's just something...off about the movie. The late reviewer Roger Ebert summed it up best: "Does "Trespass" have any lasting significance? No. Does it do anything particularly well? No, only skillfully. Do the actors find depth in their characters? There is none to find."

An admirable performance by the late, great Bill Paxton...
A little dash of Treasure Of The Sierra Madre and 2 parts Reservoir Dogs and you have this little underrated gem. Quite a study of human nature when confronted with overwhelming greed and how it can change the even the most solid of relationships. You can't beat this edition, chock full of extras and an excellent digital transfer but then again what can you expect from the masters at Shout Factory who never cease to amaze me with their professional releases and obvious love of the source material. Give this movie a shot, you won't regret it :)

Starts out a bit slow, but sure takes off to a great movie experience.
This is a rare movie, in that it blends the urban and suburban lifestyles and does it well. It's the story of 3 firemen looking for a treasure that was buried in what is now an abandoned building which also happens to be a drug lords (ICE T) place of business. Eventually the firemen are found bye the drug lord and have to escape to a safer place with their lives of course. There is a lot of action in this movie. Some really good story telling as well. Adding to this is the wonderful cast. Two of my favorite actors Ice T and William Saddler. It's a good movie, no, it's a great movie. Buy it, you'll be glad you did.Ralph J. Fitcher

Great movie
I remember watching this movie when I was younger. I’m glad that I can actually order old movies on Amazon.

The Original Script was title "The Looters"
But they had to change the title after the Rodney King riots in LA. Very solid movie and the Shout Select re-release on Blu Ray is awesome. Also poor Bill Sadler should be known for more than the stupid Demon Knight movie. He was awesome as Death in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey and also as the main bad guy in Die Hard II (where he does karate naked in his hotel room for some weird reason).

A DVD in Blu clothing
I've talked extensively about Trespass in the past and will continue to do so in the future. It's a great movie and I've seen it dozens of times. However, this Blu-ray is a piece of crap. The LCPM 2.0 sound is really immersive and there are lots of meaty extras and a thick booklet included. But...the picture is terrible. This is honestly no better than the 1998 Goodtimes DVD that came in a snapcase. Obviously, this was taken from an ANCIENT master and has no business being sold as a premium Blu-ray. 101 Films do some excellent work, but they should be ashamed for putting out a movie looking as shockingly poor as this. Most certainly not worth the asking price!

Trespass | 101 Black label limited edition [Blu-ray]
This is a film i really wanted to see again so out (on the net i mean) i went for hunting the best blu ray release. Now, there are a few editions to choose from but how can i learn which one is best to enrich my humble collection with. The 101 black label limited edition stole my attention from start but the product comments for that release go extreme different directions. One reviewer says the transfer is great, one other throws the quality to peaces and is so angry about it he posts the same destructive review on bluraydotcom. I phoned a friend who bravely took the risk obtaining the 101 edition and he told me not to worry, go for it. So i did. Yesterday i enjoyed my copy and waauw, sorry unhappy guys but the video quality can compete with Criterion and the sound is brilliant. Ry Cooder's metallic snares burn with evil blues through your room and the angry public enemy gangsta rap fits perfect the evil expressing faces of Ice T andCube. Great original movie, Great sound and a Great 101 black label limited or maybe later standard release.

Bad Choice
Exploring old abandoned buildings is a dangerous business, but it becomes a lot more dangerous when you witness a crime as serious a murder. Rap god heavy-weights Ice T and Ice Cube lead a squad of urban gangsters handling their business in an industrial complex, but they are not the only ones there. Bill Paxton and William Sadler play Vince and Don respectfully, a couple of prospectors that are just about to get way out of their depth in their efforts to get ahead of the game with a financial windfall. A cat and mouse game follow where both sides are forced into a position of consideration, what are their goals are, and what it is that they value the most. A very entertaining watch. I'd definitely include this with other urban dramas of the caliber of New Jack City, or Boyz 'n' the Hood.

Gritty urban classic
The package arrived on time and in excellent condition. I really enjoyed the movie and all of the bonus features. At last I have a Blu-ray of this film. It's a gritty urban classic with an excellent cast. One for the collection.
