Packaged well and the wash really works
A new year treat to myself to encourage me to do all the bits of bobs that live at the bottom of the laundry basket. A good detergent which leaves your washing looking clean and smelling fresh. Seems to make things simpler to iron too which is a bonus.

Decent results but on the expensive side for the amount you get
I was keen to try this non-bio detergent by The Lab Co mainly because it doesn't contain any harsh or nasty chemicals, so this is what I'd prefer to wash my children's clothes in. The liquid is relatively thin, unlike most other detergents I have used. The advice is to use 2 capfuls for light soiling/soft water, or 4 capfuls for hard water/heavy soiling. As we are in an area with hard water, this is the amount I have been using. The first thing I found slightly odd was it advises capfuls, but the cap it has on has a push button that allows you to squeeze the product out once open. I almost felt as though they had missed including a separate cap on the bottle that is used as a measurer. Instead, I had to unscrew the push cap (making sure it was closed) and measure four of them out. In the end, when I had a pretty good idea of how much to put in on each wash, I didn't bother measuring but instead squeezed it straight into the washing machine dispenser.Okay so onto performance, it has so far cleaned my clothes much the same as my usual detergent, so there are no problems there. The scent is very subtle, so subtle in fact that you can only just detect it, but then I don't mind that so much as if you dry your clothes outside, they always get that fresh smell anyway.I suppose my biggest gripe with this product is the price point. At £12 (time of review) for 500ml, I just think it might be out of most folks' financial reach to buy on a regular basis, especially if you are using 4 capfuls each time, like me. Obviously, I understand this is unique in the fact there are no harsh chemicals or toxins used and is mainly natural ingredients so this will make it more expensive to produce, but for me to swap from my regular detergent to this one full-time, I just don't think it is viable. I'd be tempted to purchase this to use alongside my usual detergent and save it for my kids whites and lights only.A good product and if you can afford to purchase on a regular basis, you'd be doing the planet a big favour too. 4/5

I'm not a convert
Claims "up to 20 washes" but read the small print and for hard water (which most of us have in the UK) it says use 4 capfuls which would give around 7 washes. Makes it quite an expensive product as detergents go.Speaking of capfuls, the cap is not really designed for measuring as it's really a squeezy top where you press the top down on one side to expose the aperture to squeeze out. Use it removed and upturned as a measuring cap, it becomes a pain to clean it out before screwing back onto the bottle. It washes OK for sure, but I really don't get any scent whatsoever of eucalyptus, lavender, or orange rind.Whilst it may be using eco-friendly ingredients, I'm not sure why this company has ventured into this kind of detergent as they already make detergent strips/sheets which are far more eco-friendly than this - cardboard packaging instead of plastic bottles, and energy savings due to smaller size and weight. The sheets are also far more economic for us customers.

good liquid for white washes that is also eco friendly
used it a few times on my white clothes and my overall experience was a net positive.although my white clothes were not too dirty, this liquid provided a fresh and delicate cleanness that made my white clothes look and feel better and brighter. This is a vegan and plant-based liquid. They often are more expensive than traditional washing liquid products. They have been around for quite some time and can afford to command lower prices. It would not be economically viable for plant-based and vegan washing liquid businesses to exist in an environment of low prices, unfortunately, this is how their unit economics works these days. Lower prices would push them out of business.I think the price is fair at current levels for a 500ml bottle of a cruelty-free, vegan, made-in-the-UK, effective, chemical-free washing liquid. And the branding is cool too in my view!

Unimpressive result
The Lab Co. Lights & Whites Wash LiquidI am unsure about the effectiveness and use of this product. To begin with, for machine wash, which I always do, you'll need 2 capfuls of 20ml for light soiling or 4 capfuls of 40 ml for heavy soiling. The direction did not specify its suitability for an x amount of laundry. Also, I've used this a couple of times with my light-coloured clothes, but I was not satisfied with its result as I feel that the clothes were not clean enough. I usually just use this as a top-up detergent. Not impressive. I'd rather buy the ones from the local shop.

Absolutely no Scent Afterwards
I do suspect that my lights could have smelled more, had I added more of this detergent to the washing load. However, I added just above the 2 recommended capful and the clothes had a hint of a herbal scent while they were wet but are now almost completely scentless. The clothes are also clean and look as bright as it is possible for worn clothes to be. I could not ask for more.Great detergent, great approach to marketing - simple bottle that looks stylish and elegant, simple and unclaiming, more focused on the product it contains.I absolutely honestly like this product and am happy to recommend. But I have to admit my t-shirt with tomato sprinkles on it still contains those, which is to be expected.Used a couple more times, really pleased with it.

The Lab Company. Lights and Whites Wash Liquid.
I have just, washed,my white tops and some white shorts with this liquid detergent. I am not in a hard water area so just put two capfuls in the detergent drawer and the clothes came out after a 30 degree washing looking spotlessly clean and fresh and smelling divine.Drying on the line in the sunshine and I do not think they will need much ironing. Kind to the environment and kinder still to my clothes. A little expensive for just twenty washes but worth it for the results. Five stars and a recommended buy.
