InOvate Dryer Wall Vent (White)

Durability: Recently moved my dryer from the basement to the first floor. This dryer vent outlet is great -- easily opens with power of dryer exhaust and automatically closes to keep critters out. Easy installation. Very inconspicuous on white siding. No internal fins to trap lint so no cleaning involved at end of vent. Very pleased

Short story: Hands-down, this is not only the perfect metal dryer vent, it is the only metal dryer vent you should consider. Long story: To meet wildland-urban interface requirements for certification of our home for fire safety, we were required to replace our plastic dryer vent. After extensive onsite and online research, I found that metal vents fall into three categories: 1. Cheap junk from China sold at all the big-box stores and online, 2. Knock-off copies of this Inovate vent that just don’t quite get it right, and 3. This vent. Here are the important points: 1. Unlike all the other vents with a flap, this vent flap is angled slightly outward towards the bottom, so it always closes. 2. The magnets are just right to keep the vent closed, but open easily with normal dryer output. 3. The measurements are exact, and the collar fits tightly into a standard 4-inch duct (our size). 4. The construction and finish are both robust (probably more than is necessary) and flawless. 5. At $42, it really is only a few dollars more than all the worthless competition. You will not regret purchasing this vent cover.

high quality dryer vent easy to install

This is a sturdy vent cap that should last for many years. Manufacturing quality looks good, and the flapper functions well (held closed by a magnet when the dryer is not running). I installed mine through a 2x6 wall by securing a 9-inch stub of 4-inch aluminum duct to the vent cap with both a bead of caulk and peel-and-stick foil tape - that left about 3 inches of exposed duct inside the house, to which the dryer duct was attached with a 4" hose clamp. Four stainless steel screws were used to secure the vent cap to the house siding, with a bead of caulk applied around the sides and top of the vent cap to seal it against the siding. This product should easily outlast cheap plastic and aluminum dryer vent caps, and it looks better too.

While it's a bit on the expensive side, it is heavy steel, built to last and, fits inside the 4 inch vent duct very nicely. It is powder coated but I put a light enamel gray coat on it to match the home's other outdoor fixtures. This vent offers very little resistance to the vent airflow and is animal proof unless the critters want to enter against the dryer's full blast!

Just received this & am impressed with how well made this seems to be. Of course we haven’t installed it yet but that looks pretty straightforward & we are hoping it works out well. Taking off one star because for the price paid they could have included screws for mounting.

The vent construction is sturdier and much better-fabricated than other vents I've seen on the market, and the paint coating system looks to be a good one. It connected to our rigid 4" galvanized steel dryer duct with a perfect, snug fit. I wasn't sure how the dryer's fan output would work with the heavy steel flap and magnets, but it's been opening it and operating quite dependably. The flap opens about 25 degrees from the closed position and the clothes dryer seems to be functioning quite well. I agree with another reviewer that it probably would not work properly with the typical bathroom fan because the flap is so heavy. Now that it's installed, hopefully I can begin the process of completely ignoring it.

Heavy duty product. Easy to install. The magnet secured cover is perfect. To open it after it’s installed, a magnet will help do the job. The cover fits tight, so little chance of bugs or vermin getting in. It’s not cheap, but it’s well worth it. Heads and tails improvement over the plastic louvered cover we had previously.

Considering the amount of money this dryer vent costs. Showing up bent for whatever reason is completely unacceptable.
